So... If I want to have a conversation with my darling, it helps if I'm not pantsless. On the other hand, if I want to get him to agree to anything I suppose I can distract him with lacy underthings. It wasn't an important conversation I was trying to have, anyway. (I was bitching about body hair)

My parcel has arrived! I'm so glad I decided to back Amanda Palmer's kickstarter for Theatre is Evil. Now I just kinda wish Alan was at work so I could listen through the CD (I like to listen first time all on my lonesome so no one/nothing distracts me). Unfortunately the weather isn't nice enough for me to suggest he have some man-time up at the nudie beach. (I like going with him to the nudie beach sometimes too, but he will lay out there for hours and hours and I can't with my precious delicate pale skin) I will just have to wait.

Also took my engagement ring in to get its rhodium plating redone, resized, and cleaned up. have temporarily relocated my silver heart ring onto that hand so I don't feel naked. I still panic somewhat at the sensation of no ring on my right hand, but it's less of a panic than if it were my left hand, where I'd be all, "oh fuck, did I lose it?" Not a ring I ever want to lose.

I love how Alan talks of the wedding being my first and only wedding. Because even though I'm going to outlive him (I still want 30 years from him), apparently I will be ruined for all other men, because none shall be as awesome and charming and handsome as he. :D Of course, if I do get my 30 years than I will be almost 60, maybe I could try my hand at becoming a cougar... I honestly have no idea.

Watching the Amanda Palmer street party live-streaming on the internet, heh. She's got over 24k backers and raised 1.1 million for her album, that is pretty damn cool.

So, I bought a couple of those 'Ahh Bras' that I've seen the ads on tv for, and I have to say, holy fucking hell every woman should own at least one of these. They are not sexy, but they're not unsexy, and they are very, very comfortable. There's no underwires, no cups, no elastic, it's all just one fabric that is knitted with some extra reinforcing at the bottom and a bit of shaping to the bust. But I'm feeling incredibly supported with minimum sensation that I'm wearing anything.

When we bought Alan's laptop last year it came with a year's free subscription to Norton that would protect up to 3 PCs, and that subscription ran out about a month ago... there was an option to renew online but it was $120, and we saw in a mailer that we could buy the same thing for $100 and also get a free $40 gift voucher to the store we bought it from. So we did that instead, and gave the vouchers to Joe as part of his birthday present.

There's a wedding expo in Palmerston North in a couple of weeks, I am making Alan take me with the bribery that we can stop by JB Hi-Fi so he can drool over electronics and we can check out the DVDs and blu-rays there.

Well, my love and I bought the first season of Game of Thrones a week ago or so, and promptly fell in love with it. I'm digging Arya, Jon Snow, and The Imp the most. Second season is only screening on SOHO here so will have to wait until it is out on DVD, and avoid spoilers if I can.

Um, so was reading a few gen Avengers fanfic and stumbled on the crack!pairing that is Darcy Lewis/Bruce Banner (or Darcy/Hulk) and rather loving it.

Amanda Palmer retweeted something I posted about her and earned me a follower haha. I'd say the chick, like me, was drawn to Amanda by her husband Neil Gaiman posting about her and we share that in common at least. I'm also really digging the single "Do it with a rock star" that she released to backers, although Alan wasn't over struck on it. Speaking of Neil, amazon.com has the entire Sandman series in a slipcover available for pre-order, for under $200. It is very, very tempting.

I also got around to buying the Lana Del Rey album off iTunes and have those songs in my head all the time now.

I'm also wondering about buying Diablo 3. I didn't pre-order and turns out that was a good thing since blizzard didn't anticipate sales and their servers crashed shortly after the game was released. As far as I'm aware it's sorted now but still a bit unsure as I don't want to be disappointed like I was with Dungeon Siege 3.

I need to put a grocery list together and walk down to meet Alan after work.

Okay, okay, RL post...

Got a temporary job doing stocktake at Alan's store. It's only for a month (two weeks already gone) but hey, it's a bit of extra dosh and quite handy for shelling out on necessities like firewood, and not so necessary, like Amanda Palmer's kickstarter project because it is so utterly cool and exciting how fast she raised money. And she's funny and I love following both her and Neil Gaiman on twitter because they are an adorable couple.

Also on twitter, amusing to follow Zachary Quinto & Simon Pegg and see them getting up to shenanigans in Hooters with Cumberbatch (I don't even watch the new Sherlock)... weirdest thing is reading Leonard Nimoy's posts with his voice in my head.

Anyway, back to the job thing... it means getting up at 5 a.m. two mornings in a row, which is a bitch but survivable. Although, fuck this cold. I know it's heading into winter but fuck the cold. Winter also means July also means my birthday means holy shit I'm almost twenty-fucking-SEVEN ayfkm surely I only turned 17 last year. My brother is going to be 30, which is supposed to be grown-up, right? Except it's impossible to imagine my brother being grown-up. And me being grown-up. I will never give up my legos.

I still need to organise my wedding holy hell I am terrible at this.

Summing up my thoughts in both this post and the comments: How the fuckity fuck can people not realise how awesome Natasha/Black Widow is? IF YOU DISAGREE, WE HAVE VERY DIFFERENT MEMORIES OF BUDAPEST, OKAY? Also, see title of post. I can has icons?

A couple fic recs:
By Arwen Lune -- Rock Happy A Generation Kill/SGA fusion, or; Brad Colbert in Atlantis. "You know what's really weird about the whole thing?" Brad finally said. Nate raised en eyebrow. "Apart from the whole highly classified, inter-branch, civilian and international, can't-tell-you-what-our-program-is-called-without-non-disclosure-paperwork, independent-thinker selecting, amiable Air Force and Corps officer cooperation thing?" Also, Brad Colbert mentioned in Rock Happy that he found a Shit My CO Says list on the Atlantis wiki. Rock Happy is still a WIP but what I've gathered from the notes she is close to wrapping it up, and then intends to write shorter fics featuring the Generation Kill boys in Atlantis. Normally I steer clear of WIPs because I hate the long waits, but she's been fairly regular.

By auburn -- Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves John Sheppard/Rodney McKay Summary: Vala Mal Doran and her partners, renegades Jehan abd-Ba'al and Meredith McKay, hijack the Tau'ri ship Prometheus and leave the Milky Way behind in search of the Lost City of the Ancients, Atlantis. This is a long read with plenty of action and suspense, that parallels many canon events but also takes some new twists, and also explores some things the show never touched on, like just WHY everyone manages to mostly understand each other, except some languages and the written word. For the most part, I enjoyed it immensely, although I don't know if it's personal preference/head canon, I just felt Carter got a bit of a raw deal, but then the author's main focus was on Vala, Jehan, and Meredith as the core cast of this tale. There's a couple shorter pieces set in the same 'verse that I haven't read yet.

By copperbadge/sam_storyteller -- Avengers: A Partial Dictionary Of The 21st Century Steve/Tony but really a gorgeous exploration of the 21st Century by Steve, with some interesting extrapolations about the other Avengers... It's amazing what you can keep in the refrigerator. By the time the team is living in Stark Mansion, the big industrial fridge in the kitchen is packed. Bruce and Natasha tried to institute the "everyone gets a shelf" rule, but Tony just eats whatever's there and Thor doesn't really understand the concept of personal property very well and Clint positively delights in eating other peoples' food, because he says it tastes better if it's stolen. And, and, there's just this reference to Xavier/Magneto that tugged my heartstrings...

By dduane -- "Mycroft's Delight" okay, it's supposed to be BBC Sherlock but I haven't seen that, so I was picturing Stephen Fry's Mycoft from the movie, bust still. Part of me just loves the fact a published author doesn't hesitate to write fanfic (esp. after that ONTD post about author's opinions on fanfic--mainly, the authors they chose to quote mostly were quite dickish about it), and the story itself is delightful to sink into, and, bonus, she included a recipe at the end.

That's all for now...

Every day, I cannot quite get over the fact I can look out my living room window and see the ocean. Than in 2 minutes I can go from my front doorstep to sandy beach. It's unreal. I always grew up with The Beach being an exotic destination, a real treat. Now, I get to live by one every day. If we ever have to move, it won't ever be the same as When We Lived at the Beach.

Speaking of which, got to go kayaking yesterday for the first time of this season. 'Twas glorious. My muscles ache. I aim to get fitter at this whole kayaking thing. I honestly don't know how I managed to shed all that weight I'd put on in the last few years, and I'm soooo proud to be slipping into size 12 jeans again, but my tummy is still a little soft and flabby for my taste. I need my own gloves and seat for my kayak though. My other aim for this summer is to get ridiculously brown and avoid burning as much as possible.

...I left the laundry on the line. Oops.

I am also considering cutting my hair again. It's really long, and thick, and summer is the time I don't want to fuss about with it. I have a style I'd like to try but am not sure how well it will work with my curly hair. It looks gorgeous with straight hair. I'm just... lazy about straightening my hair all the time.

Watched a few movies recently, and I must say...

The Hurt Locker -- SUCKS. Seriously bad. I wanted to shoot all the characters in that, and, just... horribly, horribly sucky.

From Paris With Love -- YES. Funny, action bull-shit. The oddest pairing, not what I would ever have thought of, but very well played. Also... John Travolta gets a Royale With Cheese.

Prince of Persia -- I am unfamiliar with the source material, but I enjoyed it. It was a good fun adventure with cool combinations of action, snark, and mystic stuff. I Not a role I'm used to Gyllenhaal in but he wasn't bad.

Music...

Kind of in love with Bruno Mars at the moment. His music is quite catchy and his voice is not unpleasant.

Also, Glee. Cannot believe I got sucked into it but DAMN can they sing.

Brooke Fraser, I like her still. There's Something In the Water indeed.

Mumford sons - little lying man also a favourite at the moment.

Oh, I updated my status on Facebook but I guess I never got around to mentioning it here... on the 19th of November was my 3 year anniversary of getting together with Alan. He told me once that if we made 3 years, he would consider making it legal. So... I am now ENGAGED. I don't have a ring yet because of certain financial hiccups, but it will come. Oh yes, it will come. I'm looking at sapphires.

Looking at a medieval/fantasy style wedding. Possibly in a Jan/Feb time of year. Not 2011, obviously.

Saturday I went to see Once with [livejournal.com profile] blue_raven which was interesting in the fact that it is the first time we've actually done something together...more than just handing over a video tape or her being very confused when I stop in front of her to say 'hi' as she waits for her parents outside a cafe. (I was amused; it had been two years since we last saw each other and she had no idea who I was at first.) It was also interesting because it was a fun movie to watch. Funny in little quirky ways, beautiful music (gotta get ahold of that soundtrack), and an interesting and nice story...

The three of us sitting at the cafe later, and me struggling to find a topic of conversation that could get us all involved in talking... movies was the topic that was easiest. Must remember to burn a copy of Equilibrium for her, and steal a copy of A Dog's Breakfast from her. A nice wee exchange.

Saturday afternoon at the Esplanade with my darling was also nice, except that the heat got to me and I was still kind of delicate and recovering from the tummy bug of Wednesday/Thursday. It made going to work a real bitch. But oh well, work is work and my paycheck will be sweeter for it. Kind of like how they called me again today asking if I could start early... this at about noon when I start at three and work till 10... like I'm going to work over nine hours at checkouts. I said I'd come in around 1:30 or 2. I know they'd like more from me, but I have a life and everything, yeah?

Well, I'm back in Palmy now, and was able to catch a couple hours in Bella's bed (after a hefty make-out session with my darlin). I did sleep on the bus down, but of course I kept being woken up... plus the driver was speeding a lot, I think to make up for the delays loading and unloading, and that made the ride bumpier. At least I had two seats all to myself, though.

Was so good to see him this morning. Would have been nice if he could have been picking me up to take me straight home, but, oh well. We can wait a little longer. He can call me anytime he likes now. :D

Going to be interesting working until closing again. People are going to be super pissed they can't get their last minute booze from the supermarket. I wonder how many drunks we'll get? I fair few I should imagine. That's gonna suck.

Working 'til closing again tomorrow night. Weird to think of the place closing, 'cause, really, we could be a 24/7 operation, but they'd probably struggle for people willing to work those public holiday times unless they offered more than time and a half and day in lieu. I still don't understand closing New Year's night, though. Mind you, I don't understand the day after New Year's being a public holiday. Ah well, who'm I to question when it's going to fatten my paycheck?

James Blunt stuck in my head.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom03 for helping me this morning. Three hours of sleep, and I woke up to find myself in another, deeper low than before, and lying in bed with my thoughts was a Bad Plan. I'm grateful that someone (particularly someone that has dealt with depression) was online for me to talk to, even if it was more to distract me out ofmy thoughts than discuss them in detail. It's exactly what I needed, and I thank her for that (again).

I'm thinking my next course of action should be to pick some happy, upbeat music and listen to it as I take a walk, soon as the sun's up a little more. I figure I'll crash to sleep later in the day, provided the brats aren't too rambunctious. I can always take an early night, once they're gone though. But first I'll try and finish the rest of this soup.

Okay, so, um, Saturday was my best mate [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t's birthday. Her 21st, in fact. Big shindig like thing planned. Ish.

Well, dinner at Valentines where we all dressed v. v. nice and somehow managed not to get pished or spend a hell of a lot on the bar tab. And then Damo, Ange, Anita and I were off out on the town (after Ange and I did some creative changing in the car to clothes more fit for bar crawling).

But, let me start at the beginning.

Early afternoon found me frustrated and swearing, as my attempts at ironing the wrinkles out of my dress appeared to be... nonexistant. Given that it's a dryclean only dress and I had to use the low setting on the iron, I mean, I don't know. I don't know a fucking thing about ironing, but the wrinkles were not fucking off. And then Ange texted me asking if I wanted to come over early, watch some SG-1, and still hang out while she and Damo were off at Zuki's where she was getting all sorts of pampered.

I still hadn't straightened my hair. But okay. Shoved things into a bag, and headed on over. A couple streets away from her place, I looked down and, to my shock, disovered a Samsung mp3 player that, while clearly having been run over at least once (the headphones were crushed) was still intact and working. And whoever it was that lost it has a fairly decent taste in music. Now I just gotta find myself the software, somewhere, somehow...

Watched SG-1. Ange came home in time to just about cry over Daniel dying after pulling a Spock. And then we had a minor Danielgasm at the special features tribute to him. Hee.

Dinner was fine. She got lots of cool gifts, and I was almost (but not quite) tempted to try the baby octopus they had on offer... but they were just a little too disturbing. And Ange wasn't nearly drunk enough for us to trick/dare her into trying one. No matter.

First bar we were at, decided to play some pool, doubles--Me and Anita vs. Ange and Damo, which was mostly us against Damo. Ange had only played pool once before, and, well, she's never really been known for her gaming prowess. But it's not like Anita and I kicked ass. We did win the first game, and then rather spectacularly lost the second game. And owe our final victory to Ange, although the chances of us winning that one seemed a mite better than theirs, any how.

Highlights of the game include:
Ange sinking the white ball plent of times, but the only times she sunk any other ball was the black ball to bring them, and then us, to victory.
Damo being the only one to knock the white ball off the table.
Damo aiming for either two of balls and bouncing the white over both of them straight into the middle pocket.
Not to mention a couple of shots I made that, well, it was a fluke I actually sunk a ball. But still, we had a lot of fun.

Also, while we were playing, we were... approached by a group of guys on a Stag night. They each had a list of things they had to do, and, well, we helped them out a little. Um. I helped them out most. See, the groom needed to acquire a pair of women's panties.

So I sold mine to him for $20.

And then I ended up giving up my pantyhose to one of the other guys, while Ange gave another her stockings.

This may be whiy I oughtn't go out on the town anymore. I do crazy stuff that involves a fair amount of shamelessness, and, usually, a lacking of sobriety. I go and do it stone fucking sober. Go me!

We wandered around a couple other places, but the music was rather shite and I didn't have a real hankering for getting pished. Also, I forgot to think about the fact that straightening my hair and not wearing my glasses makes me not resemble my passport photo so much. Once place I had to give my name and birthdate and have both bouncers look at me vs. my picture. Anyway, we went home about one something in the morning.

Slept late; missed Anita leaving but found $20 she dropped by the door. Um, decided to watch Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 'til Ange and Damo got up. Not long afer they got up and the movie finished, we went to the Base to look into acquire Season 6 of SG-1. Well, first we had lunch at BK, where I had possibly the best burger I have had in ages. The Ultimate Double Whopper? It's... a proper size burger. With, like, all sorts of tasty ingredients. I was very satisfied.

Anyway, Wharehouse at the Base didn't have Season 6, but the Hilcrest store did, so we went over there and got it, plus a couple of movies, and some meat for dinner, then we went to Ange's mum's. She'd taken most of Ange's presents and the leftover cake home just so we didn't have to worry about them in the car while we were out on the town. Grabbed all that stuff and then went back to their place.

Yay, watched the first couple discs... had kinda forgotten how cute in a lost puppy kind of way Corin Nemec/Jonas Quinn can be. Also was amused at the return of McKay, after the poor guy got shipped off to Siberia (although he was being a right royal prick, that time). Still, I love me some SG-1.

And now I'm caught up on my f-list. Yay.

2. put it on shuffle.
3. press play.
4. for every question, type the song that's playing.
5. when you go to a new question, press the 'next' button.
6. don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.
7. don't skip songs

Err, I confess, I did, in fact, skip a song because it was "Track __" and I couldn't tell who it was or even guess the name of the song. A total mystery. So... yeah. Otherwise I didn't skip.

Oh, yeah, and it was Winamp rather than iTunes, but, still... music playlist. Whatever.

01. opening credits: Mantua (R&J Soundtrack II)
02. waking up: The Show Must Go On (Moulin Rouge Soundtrack)
03. first day at school: The Offspring -Untitled Track 15 Greatest Hits
04. fight song: Fatboy Slim - Because We Can (Moulin Rouge Sountrack)
05. breaking up: OPM - Heaven is a Half Pipe
06. happiness: Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
07. life's okay: Cardigans - My Favorite Game
08. mental breakdown: Foo Fighters - Fraternity
09. driving: Foo Fighters - Hey Johnny Park

11. getting back together: Incubus - Aqueous Transmission
12. wedding: Lenny Kravitz - Where Have You Been?
13. birth of a child: white Stripes - Fell in Love With a Girl
14. final battle: Mundy - Escape From Mantua (R&J Soundtrack II)
15. death scene: Chemical Brothers - Dream On
16. funeral song: Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
17. end credits: Placebo - Scared of Girls

Am amused that not only did I have "Mantua" but "Escape From Mantua" show up on the list completely randomly.

Last night I had dinner at Ange's, we drank up the last of their vodka cruisers and the small bottle of JD she got me for my birthday. And I didn't get drunk. In fact, I barely reached relaxed/tipsy/happy. I would have thought the amount of alcohol consumed would be enough, but, err, apparently not. Maybe all that drinking in the past with Glenn and Co. has upped my tolerance or something. Or maybe I just didn't drink fast enough to really up the blood in my alcohol.

We watched A Midsummer Night's Dream. I'm convinced Christian Bale must be a vampire, or something, 'cause I always get this sense that he's got fangs if he'd just bare his teeth. *laughs* Whatever. Was being a total perve about nekkid Dominic West (Lysander). Also, total love for Rupert Everett, with all the lovely skin showing, and something about the glitter on the skin that was... distracting.

I like shiny. :D

[livejournal.com profile] diea I'm sorry! I completely spaced, and here's why:

Thursday, Pat hands me this ticket to the 80's Prom at The Establishment that this radio station was throwing. Anyway, said 80's Prom was last night. So cue rearranging my whole day around getting set up for that.

Not to mention last week I got moved out of my room for a little bit and it was time to move everything back. And get it just the way it was before. Anyway, I kept my online forays to a short spate in the morning, rather than afternoon. :(

Then there was a trip to my brother's. I had a couple reasons to, for instance, we hadn't seen each other since coming back from the wedding about a month ago. Also, I had a bunch of CDs there and it was killing me to get songs stuck in my head and not have the CDs to listen to and get said songs OUT of my head. And then there was the fact I needed to grab a few choice items to create the perfect 80's look.

Anyway, the afternoon was spent doing laundry. And fussing with my CDs to find that perfect order for them. Hence, not online to chat with [livejournal.com profile] diea. (Ooops! I feel so bad that I forgot.) I was very distracted and excited about the 80's Prom though. The German girl Katja was going with me, too. So, sorting out my outfit and making sure I had clean clothes, yada yada yada...

Cooking tea (one of my better meals) and reassuring Katja that she had plenty of time to get ready. I hung out with Glenn for a bit, even fooled around online and sent a link off to [livejournal.com profile] blue_raven that I thought she'd like. About 8:30 and I got around to doing my make-up: oodles of green eye shadow and red lipstick...

So, outfit was: the black and white stripey socks, witch's shoes, short black skirt with studs down the side, white tank top with long sleeved green mesh thingy and little white overtop thingy that goes with the tank top (I'm not very good at explaining, but I have posted pictures of the combo before...not with the mesh, but ultimately, the effect was very 80's-esque). I also had a sideways ponytail held by a green scrunchy, long dangly earrings (not plastic, alas, but still, helped) and my black wool hat. [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji ought to know the one I'm talking about. It was perfect. Plus there was my leather jacket which gave it a sort of Top Gun effect.

So yeah, we got there, got our wee vouchers for one free drink... and holy mother of fuck was there a lot of girls. Like... mostly girls. Very few boys. Even fewer who could have been both cute and single (I was looking for Katja's sake, honest! :P) and likely to notice one girl out of the multitudes. Eh, bien...

The music was good. While many who were there couldn't possibly have been able to remember the 80's, it was still... interesting. Time flew, really, and before I realised, it was midnight. Our Prom Prince was some random guy, no idea who, I mostly remember that our Prom Princess was a man dressed as a woman. :D

About then I asked Katja if we could leave, 'cause my feet were killing me. And of we went, me hobbling more than walking. So, good girl that I am, I was in bed by 1, heh. And woke up with my alarm at 8, refreshed and ready to face a new day.

And later today I'm off to a BBQ at Grant's flat. That shall be interesting, to say the least. Plus, y'know, reasonably assured of sex at some point afterwards. :P And that's all that matters.

The other day I found a dollar and then then twenty cents just laying on the ground. Because, of course, I so totally want to be picking more change. What with the fact they're going to up and change it all now. Bye-bye 5c pieces...gods, I remember when we used to have 1 & 2 cent coins too... I don't remember 1 & 2 dollar bills, or when they changed them to coins. But now their dropping the 5c, and downsizing and making lighter 10, 20, and 50 cent coins...making 10 cent coins copper-coloured now too.

So I've gone and spent all my spare change. I only had $2.80 of it, so I bought a cream bun and a chocolate caramel slice. Yummmm. Good stuff.

My cold is getting better. The cough isn't as bad, and while my nose is still sometimes runny and stuff, it's...sorta like before I was sick instead of all cloggy and shit. No headaches, either. I think I hate the headaches almost as much as coughing... 'cause the headaches don't go away with a drink like if it was just dehydration. And I hate the coughing 'cause of when I got bronchitus when I was ten. Worst shit ever. A blocked nose is (somewhat) more bearable, methinks.

Anyhoodie...

Got Iain his b-day present. It's one of those pin-art thingies... like [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t got for [livejournal.com profile] the_chief_80 for some occasion or other that I have now forgotten. And it's colourful--instead of the metal pins, they're these blue ones. Probably looks tres awesome under blacklight. I'm sure he'll like it.

Speaking of Iain, he burned me a copy of the Yellow Submarine songtrack when I saw him on Sunday. So when I'm not rockin' out to my Foo Fighter's CDs that I bought with the voucher he gave me, then I'm listening to the Beatles. Good stuff. :D

Was drinking last night. *snerk* Got through about half a bottle of Jim Beam black with Glenn before I gave up for the night. As much as I love bourbon and coke, it's not quite in me to drink a whole bottle in one night. Or even half of one, really. Still, it's cool hanging out and drinking with Glenn and his buddies. I may be the youngest of the lot, but they're not super-creepy or hitting on me or anything.

Ohh, and last night NCIS started back up. Zomg. *fangirly squee* I've been looking forward to this for so long now... Tony, as usual, I love. Abby is awesome and I always think of [livejournal.com profile] diea because I knew before I ever found out she watched the show that Abby'd be her fave (and remind her of me somewhat). I'm totally with her on the love for Ziva, too, like, with the way she was teasing Tony. 'Twas hilarious.

MMmm...think that's about all I've got for now. Started a new term and it's going okay. :)

How evil are you?

*snicker*

I've been listening to my Bright Eyes CD that [livejournal.com profile] cameinlast gave me ages upon ages ago. For some reason, it sends me to sleep like no other CD I own. Honestly, I push 'play' and listen to it as I lie in bed and...zonk. I'm out for the night. I never remember the CD finishing, or taking my headphones off, but come morning when my alarm goes off, there's my discman up by the pillow, headphones NOT entangled around my body...and I swear it's only this CD it happens with! Any other CD and I'll usually wake up two or three times while it's still playing, if I do fall asleep before it finishes. Or, I'll wake up after it's ended with the headphones still on and remember to remove them. And wake up in the morning somewhat tangled in them if I forget to move the player off the bed or something. Not so when I listen to Bright Eyes, for some strange, unfathomable reason.

I've only been listening to the CD the last few days or so, after ages of not listening to it... I kept getting Perfect Sonnet stuck in my head so I just HAD to listen to the whole damn CD. Anyway, first night I listened to it and it sent me into blissful sleep, I went and dreamt about Biz, Crispy, Shannan, and Tyler... *snerk*

Today the weather is fucking brilliant. Well, okay, it's sunny so of course I'm happy. The last two days have been cold, rainy, and windy. Damn miserable and near felt like I was freezing all the time. So today... today is great. It's Friday, the weather is nice, whee! And all that jazz.

Also teasing [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji a wee bit. ;)

Mum and Gary got a new kitten a while ago. See, when they sold up the house and moved back across the sound to...I think Arlington now...they had to find Marbles a new home with a nice lady 'cause they were living in an apartment where they couldn't have her. Sam and The Princess, sadly, disappeared long before the house was sold and mum believes the coyotes got 'em. Pity. Anyway, parents bought a new house, they like it a lot, and mum scored a new kitten. When a fence is built I belief the plan to acquire a couple of dogs (a pug and a german shorthead pointer-GSP for short).

Any of my friends who have been to [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji's will have met and been attacked by Hummer. Well, the kitten Thumper formerly known as Smudge has a personality akin to Hummer's (for those who don't know Hummer, think of Puss 'n Boots from Shrek 2). She likes to thunder down the hallway at excessive speeds and attack feet and ankles like whoa. Sounds adorable.

I've requested of Iain to get me a free ticket to the second Pirates movie for my birthday. And to burn me a CD of the Beatles music. Or to get me booze like [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t says she has. Hee.

FIn.

Edit: Okay, caught an episode of Prison Break on Wednesday, first time I'd seen it... and seriously? Pretty.
xans: Xans (R/T ftw)
So over at [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes there's this post which led to a meta-meta and in the comments of that post, [livejournal.com profile] apey1013 had this to say: Half-Life of Gay is the best band name EVER. They're logo would be a rainbow colored radiation symbol.

(okay, it's should be 'their', but you gotta love the theory) Seriously, wish that band existed. 'Twould be fabulous.

This morning I washed a shitload of dishes because some people seem to be incapable of cleaning up after themselves. I was thanked, and then I rewarded myself with some chocolate (dark ghana even). Yay, it's Friday, and I have a party to look forward to this weekend.

So someone gives you a letter, and you have to list ten things beginning with that letter and what they mean to you. [livejournal.com profile] uptheduff gave me the letter S. Ask me in the comments and I'll assign you a letter. :) I'll try to be nice and pick easy letters.

1. Skirts. I like wearing skirts--on days where it's not cold and/or windy, and I like wearing them without there being a 'special occasion' for it. Some people just can't seem to get that, though. But skirts are cool.

2. Salmonella Dub. It's a kiwi dnb thing. Their music is good. And actually it's NZ music month so this is the perfect time to say something.

3. Sky-diving. [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t got to do that for her birthday once. Maybe I could get to do it for one of mine. 'Cause I am so going to do it sometime.

4. Sweet tarts. I was asked what my favourite candy is, and barring anything with chocolate, it's got to be sweet tarts. I love that they're both sweet and tarty (like me, ha! :P). I usually can't take sweetness on its own, but with a sour, tarty, or bitter side to lessen the effect.

5. Silver. With my skin tone, silver jewelry looks better, and I have some rather nice pieces that I've inherited or been given over the years, like the ring I'm wearing, or the opal earrings from Aunty Nina.

6. Sweet chili sauce. One of the best sauces for flavouring food. I use it as a little extra in so many meals that would otherwise be kind of bland.

7. Star-gazing. Some of my fondest memories from childhood involve lying on the beach at papamoa and star-gazing with my family. I didn't learn too many constellations--only orion, the southern cross, and the pleiades--but saw a lot of falling stars to make wishes on.

8. Sunday. I once wrote a poem about Sunday. It happened when we had a creative writing excersise in English... and was totally random.

9. Snakes. When I was little we went to Australia for a trip before moving to the States. Once thing I remember was visiting one of those petting zoos, and one of the creatures was a python. Dad was holing me up while the lady came by for us to touch it. I've never really been afraid of snakes, but I wouldn't want to piss one off either.

10. Severus Snape. *grins* I love how dodgy he is. Sometimes he vexes me with the stupid shit he pulls, and other times I admire him like no other. He's got to be one of the coolest characters that woman has created, and I trust him. (would rather trust and be deceived... :P)

So I stopped by my brother's today. I had mail. More specifically, two parcels from [livejournal.com profile] _college_girl_. :D 8 CDs, three or four letters, including one from [livejournal.com profile] thegreenchicken. Awesomeness.

*enjoys* Whee!

It's Oh So Quiet Bjiork

lyrics )

'Cause I like 'em.

Off to Wellington soon. Will be around even less. Oh noes!

Life goes on.

I think, just possibly, I have a lot of books. Fucking heavy.

Speaking of swearing, "cunt" is such a fun word to say. CUNT. (I know you love it when I talk dirty. Ooooh yeah.)

Cut offs are fun, except when there's a bajillion flies around and I can't tell if the tickling on my legs is just the frayed bits, or a fly... There's a multitude of the bastards about, and they're fly spray resistant or something, 'cause they keep not dying in significant numbers.

CSI NY, Bones, Lost, and Invasion tonight. Unfortunately not on the same channel. 'Spose I can tape one channel and watch the other... or Ange will and we'll watch it tomorrow. Yep, going over to [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t's for a wine and movie, so likely we'll watch that too or she'll never get around to it.

Made a CD for my mum with these songs on it:

I just love using the cut )
