So we are looking to negotiate an early release from our contract for renting this place. It's only by three weeks, so I think we have a good chance. Everything has sounded positive so far. The reason being? Well, besides the fact the house is on the market and we don't have that security that we will be able to stay there, we were browsing through trademe and found this place and it's awesome. Even Joe and Heaven can live with us there and I shan't whine (much). Also, they'll not only pay board but buy their own food, which they don't do here. But, seriously? Ocean views from one side and mountain views from the other? Awesome.

Went up to Levin today with Alan to deliver a new outdoor table to Chris and Tarns. The old one we gave them was a glass top and got smashed when the umbrella fell on it once. And heading in to bbq season (we're having one tonight) it helps to have a table to eat out on.

And the weather was so nice that we headed down to Peka Peka for a bit of sunbathing. With any luck, I have managed to get a little tanned and not burned. I did bring sunscreen so I wouldn't get burned badly, but I was still flirting with it happeneing anyway. My skin really needs to sunning, though.

Anyhow... FOOD!

I had fun at the beach. I didn't get sunburned. I found cute little itty bitty shells. The tent wasn't as hard to put up as I remember it being. It also took less time. I'm more and more convinced that time went slower when I was a kid. An hour was forever, whereas nowadays it's piffle. Still, get me in a car for longer than an hour with no exciting conversation and I fall alseep. Didn't use to do that.
Speaking of sleeping, Iain's having issues readjusting to New Zealand time. Keeps staying up late and missing most the day 'cause he's going by Thailand time. But he's learning to readjust, slowly, finally.
It's lovely and warm today.

Well, well

Playing online I had to show this site to my brother. I'd been telling him about it so it was nothing to just look it up on google and let him have a skizzy. Now it's show off all the faces at my photobucket account.
It's funny talking with family and discussing the differences between accents and general dialect differences. Like our tendencies to throw 'ie' and 'ies' on the end of something. Sunnies (sunglasses), barbie (BBQ), jammies (Pjs), walkies... and the like. There're others I'm sure. Those are just the ones I can think of on the spot.
This morning I was a little lazy and irritable. I had my reason. That being... mum snored so loud last night. It was horrible. I don't like sharing a room with her, but we didn't have much of a choice last night. Unpleasant to say the least. She also wasn't in poking or kicking distance so it's not like I could wake her up to make her turn onto her side. So I deliberately stayed in later, but Madame Inconsiderate came in before I was ready to get up. She opened the curtains (ach, bright light! It hurts precious!) and was going on about how everyone else was up and had breakfast. "Everyone else didn't have to share a room with you!"
So we were in Rotorua for a couple of days... stayed at this woman Margaret's. Margaret used to babysit Iain and me when we were little ones. So she was very happy to see us. She's still got her golden retriever Spencer (he's 15 now) as well as looking after his half-sister Tussy and this doberman Truffle for a pair of her friends. There was of course visits with the family in Rotorua, and the trip into town so Iain could get board shorts for when he and mum when swimming at the Polynesian pools (they're hot mineral water pools; I wasn't swimming because of having the painters in)... where I also got mum to buy me those kick ass red flares.
Then yesterday we came over to Napier and after lunch the first stop was to the cemetary that has half a dozen relatives and we paid our respects. Grandma Kuia's ashes were buried up there, too. After that we went to mum's cousin Kathleen's, which is where I am now. Last night they had their grandkids over as well which was why I was sharing a room with mum. Bloody hell I hate doing that. Today was a day to visit MORE relatives and hit up the beach for a little walk. The water's WAY too cold for swimming, plus the riptide being superstrong.
Anyway I better get off again. Tomorrow it's off to Masterton where mum was born and raised, then we'll be back in Napier again on Monday. Mum hasn't decided if she'll pass through Rotorua on the way back or just go straight to Hamilton after Taupo. I know these names don't mean anything much to you, but if you're ever bored you can hit it up in some atlas. It's all in the North Island so it's not like you have to look all over. Mum still wants us to go to Papamoa on Wednesday as a proper visit to the beach. Denise will come with us, as well has her dog Scout--who apparently acts like a demented bumblebee at the sight of all that sand.
I think about you guys a lot. Hope you don't really miss me too much. It's hard to say I really miss you, because I don't. I'm so into reaquainting myself with this place and then it'll be settling in. It will take a while to really hit and I will miss seeing you guys then. You're in my thoughts a lot; I keep thinking I should take my camera along to take pictures of totally kiwi stuff (like McCafe's) so I can post them online and you can go, "Wtf? You Kiwis are weird."
It won't be long now before I'll have timezones all figured out to try and arrange to chat on MSN. So far all I remember is that two or three in the afternoon here is six or seven in the evening the day before in WA. Confused yet? I try.

I've sort of been saving these up to hide within a more eventful entry )

Lately my life had consisted of the uneventful. Books mostly. Lots of books. Mucho exitement there, hey? Well, it filled me with a passion while the weather didn't cooperate. Today was sooooo hot an muggy.
Anyway, got a call on Thursday from my darling Jessykins about a gettogether... the hell I was going to say no. Got a ride with Rhi. We went early--arrived at about three to watch some Ronin Warriors without subjecting all the guests to any unwanted torture (to them, at least). That was a lot of fun. We finished off the last episode as first Ali, then Pat and Kah showed up. Kah has very cute short hair.
I'd brought Charlie along to show off, because, well, the darling is evilly adorable. You who've seen him know exactly what I mean. :D
:Bill removal the Christian way ~weird junkmail title
Anyway, lots of food and very entertaining conversations. We just drifted from one topic to another. It was so cool. Jake showed up bearing fish, which he recommended but I wouldn't touch due to personal preferences. Anyway, with getting up for food there was a shift in seating positions and I ended up no longer in my spot... right next to it was Patrick stole it, and Jake stole Charlie to sit upon his lap.
I kept holding out my hand for him to hand it over, but then retracting as Pat would reach out to shake it. Naturally came the comment, "Do you like holding my hand Patrick?" and many jokes, pretend snuggles, action and all that. It's the most touchy feely I've seen Patrick ever. Not in a bad way either. It was just incredibly light-hearted and playful.
Then I asked to get online to talk to mum and ask if I could stay later than nine (it was after nine when I did this but what the hey) to watch Eddie Izzard as Jake when home to grab it.
*is having a conversation in an IM about toe nails of all things*
Well, after some hmmmmmmmmmmmming and promises of care and quiet from myself and Rhianna, I got an okay on staying 'til like midnight. So, spent the next couple of hours cuddling up with the teddy bear that is Patrick laughing at Eddie Izzard. Rhi confessed to me on the ride home that she didn't think she got nearly half the jokes I did but laughed since I did. *giggles*
Came home at closer to quarter to one but I was quiet, oh so quiet, and cleaned up the mess in the kitchen (I didn't want the watermelon to spoil!). Did a couple more errands, ate some leftover watermelon to try and settle my headache, and ran off to bed.
Today was some yardwork before mum and I went into town for some errands. Oh so fun. I got mad because it kept interrupting my reading of First Rider's Call. Oh well. It's almost finished.
Dinner is nearly ready which is why I'm trying to finish this off. Much love to you all.

Edit: Without the stress of being called off for dinner, have remembered more facts. Like, got the book Eragon from Costco at a good price for a hardcover. Also, saw a dead cat today and that was sad since I knew it to be a very social one. Persuaded mum to get some ice cream bars in Seabeck on the way home due to the heat and muggyness. Parcel arrived from her friend Elained with presents--jewelery for her, jewelery and handbag for me. Yay! Am supposed to send thank you email.

So, presents arrived from Auny Jane and Uncle George, as well as Dad and Iain. Sometimes I wonder if my Aunt and Uncle even know much about me... I mean, the presents are cool, except the g-string. Thongs aren't really my thing. But there was a beaded necklace, and this headband thingy that's, well, kinda cool. Dad got me a t-shirt with a celtic/dragon design going on, woohoo! And Iain got me this teddy bear thing (soooo cool) and a CD case with some movies and a couple music CDs. Let's see... the movies... Donnie Darko, Cowboy Beebop, Bruce Almighty, Old School, Underworld, and the Last Samurai.

Just look at 'im! I think he looks like a Charlie. If I had a dashboard I'd be duct taping him to it, oh yeah. :D
So yeah, mostly been reading Megatokyo, watched a couple videos or movies on TV, and read a book or two. Wish that there was a visible bruise on my back from yesterday...
We have this floating dock at the swimming place. Get it wet enough, and you can slip and slid into the water. The usual way is kneeling, but you can go on your stomach, or your butt. Some talented people slide on their knees to the edge, arch up and dive in. Tried that. Belly flopped. I also tried sliding on my ass. Thing was, when I went off the edge, I leaned back, and hit my back on the edge while falling into the water. Owie. Somewhere in all that I also ripped one of my toenails.
Of course Rhi had her painful moments, too. She also tried to do the slide on knees then dive thing, and belly flopped like I did. Then she tried again. She did dive. Straight down. Really fast. The change in presure at such speed left her dizzy and with water stuck in her ears... I could see she was in pain.
Not that we spent all our time in pain, or sliding off the dock. Swam around, gave her a piggy back ride... Rhi was very commonly saying, "I hate you..." as I pestered her. What can I say, I was in a mischievous mood. (V^^^V)
Having a hard time focusing these days...

So, haven't really been around since Wednesday. Thursday I wasn't online because Rhi and Ali were crashing at my place. I introduced them to the Red Green show, which they had never seen before. And then we woke up to it raining in the morning. Mum was staying home sick, too.
Meh, we packed, and were off by noon or one. The rain had pretty much abated by the time we reached our campsite, which we were very lucky to get. Set up the tents, and then we went off to get some food and stuff. I feel asleep after all the food and warmth in the car. Wouldn't have woken up were it not for the car stopping.
So we explored a little, played some games, and made hamburgers. Ali nearly got her eyebrows singed off when the gast burner wouldn't start and then suddenly had a burst of flame. But hey, we ate... stayed up late... had chich chatter...
Saturday was off to the faire. Wheee! It wasn't nearly as cloudy and even got pretty warm. I did go in search of a bodice, but could find none reasonably (for me) priced. Instead I settled for this gorgeous skirt. Rhi got a belt for her new rapier. I got a cool tin with a set of dragon cards in it, and a pretty card for mum from the same place she got her rapier.
Walking around the faire we saw some cool sights. Xena, for instance. Plus about three pet dragons and three dragons by their lonesome. Got snarled at by some wild cat creature thing, and saw a chick in a skin tight tiger suit. Ran into Charles, bless him, and promised to check out one of his group's shows.
I ended up buying more things, like a titanium navel ring for mum, (encouraged Rhi to buy a glass bottle in a leather holder to carry lemonade in) a little belt knife with an even smaller twin, a green glass mug with some celtic design for mum, and some fish'n'chips.
We got pretty tired and sat down by the stage Charles and his friends would be perfoming at. Watched one show before theirs came on. They were a bunch of gypsies ("There goes the neighborhood!") so we got some song and dance and fortune telling... It was pretty cool, but we were done after that.
Came back, Rhi and I took a walk while Ali read... got tired out and had a nap. Went and bought some firewood that they took a while to deliver--which meant we got extra for free. But then we had a hell of a time getting a fire started due to lack of paper and kindling, so we had to get some of that delivered, too. But then it was a lot of fun.
Toasted hotdogs, and I was the only one not to burn her fingers transferring cooked dog onto bun. :D And then we had marshmallows. Didn't really care to make s'mores. I just liked setting my marshmallow on fire so it was melted inside and crispy outside. Joygasmically good. Of course some of us had to lose a marshmallow or ten to the fire because they look cool when they expand and bubble and expand some more before turning to ash.
Were getting some water to douse the fire when the park ranger lady told it was "quiet hour" which certainly helped put a damper on the whole thing. Meh. We were tired enough it wasn't so bad. Lots of sleep later, and then it was all packing up time.
Came home and my parents weren't there. Didn't know where they were, when they were going to be back, nothing. Turns out they went to the beach and they came home close to six. I got handed to paper which was mum's subtle way of saying look in the classifieds right this instant young lady. There's nothing this week. Le sigh.
Damn I really want some chocolate.

I've had some interesting dreams lately. The other night I had one with Orlando Bloom. Yes, the sexy young man himself. Well, no, actually, I dreamt I saw a movie and he was in it. Funny thing was, he was in some theatrical thing in the movie. All I remember was that he was dancing around in only pants, looking kind of like it might be a production of Aladdin, and there were lots of girls dancing with him. He didn't have a shirt on, so hey.
The other dream was the one I had last night. I dreamt that for some reason I had to go back to my school, you know, just a little errand. Anyway, school ends and as people were filing out I find I'm walking next to Jerrod. Well, I tell him I think he's hot (which I never did... oops) and he tells me he has a girlfriend. Damn.
Suddenly realize I have no way to get home. But I knew Rhianna would be picking Matt up. I went into the front parking lot and hitched a ride with her and Matt. Thing was, her car was different. It was a little white sports car. As we're driving home, I realize Kamille is in the back with me. Rhi drops her off, and I realize that if we turn one way isntead of the other, we'd be driving past Ali's house. It's not like that in real life, but it was in my dream.
Anyway, Rhi's taking me home, and Matt's talking to me. As usual, he's rambling on about D&D or some other fantasy role-play/computer game. We're joking about and he turns around and does something. Next thing I know, I'm paralized. I'm happy, but I can't move. It was weird. I had this distinct impression of Matt's hand on the small of my back as he's grinning at me (how I could feel that when I couldn't move... *shrugs*) before I got kinda freaked out and woke up.
Today it took me nearly half an hour to register that the radio was on. The radio goes on at 9:30. It's my sort of alarm so I actually get up in the day. So I was up at about ten. Rhianna forgot to call me and tell me that swimming had changed from 2-ish to 3-ish. But it was very warm today.
I basically had all the windows upstairs open for a cross breeze, plus the ranch slider open downstairs. Oh man... I just remembered. There are a couple hives under the eaves on my end of the house. I have to tell Gary. He's not going to be pleased. It's really hot, which makes his temper really short.
Definitely went swimming today. It was Jess, Masumi, Ali, Rhi, and moi. We also went out in a rowboat. It was an evil rowboat. It liked to turn to the right. We'd be paddling evenly (we gave up on the oars b/c they were uneven)... well, we were paddling fairly evenly after Rhianna got out. She doesn't know how to synchrinize. Still it liked turning to the right. Eventually Jess got out too. We learned it's a better idea if we just go out in two canoes.
