Wearing a corset encourages me to sit up straight. Thankfully, this one, for all it fits well, is not overly constricting. I can breathe.
I'm at Iain's. Well it's my place too actually now. It's going to take a little bit but people who come by the flat are going to have to learn that my room is no longer the smoking room. Some signage will help, methinks. Buggered if I can remember the names of the others. Ben, yes. Chris, yes. But I promptly forgot the girl with the American boyfriend's name. And his name, too.
It was funny when we showed up because there was all this, "Oh, are you Iain's mum?" and some rushing around because they hadn't realized I'd be moving in today. A couple of the girl's friends had been sleeping in my room. Really, before I came, my room was sort of the smoking room, and the spare room to put up temp guests. Not me. I'll be paying rent.
So not happy with the exchange rate right now. Never thought I'd be upset with NZ having a strong dollar for once.
Mum has left. Thankfully she didn't outright come out and cry. But it was a close thing. :( But really, for me, this is a getting free/on my own two feet type thing and of course she's got the whole empty nest syndrome. This makes me not look forward to being a parent. Of course, at 19, why the hell would I be into deep emotional attachments to anyone? That's just not me.
I have to go to the uni and register at the Job Search place before I can apply for student hardship. Hopefully when Iain gets back we can go do that. He or Emma will help me with applying for my student allowance and such because until Emma mentioned it, I didn't even know I could also apply for accommodation allowance. It probably won't be much, but it will help. She was saying that my fees for room and dinner at Massey were pretty cheap. It's $131 a week I think. Did well on that one. \
*blinks* When we were going through the stuff in storage way back last week and such mum found a live round for... well I'm not sure what type of gun. It looks very military-like though. It's sitting on the desk here next to Iain's comp. Mum was NOT taking that over.
Also, today, when I was cleaning out my wallet, I found a razor I'd put in there sometime when we were still working on the new house (I never knew when it might have been useful). I'm surprised airport security at SeaTac or LAX never caught it. But then when mum and I went to Colorado a couple years ago they didn't catch the can of pepper spray in her purse, either. Of course she'd forgotten it was in there... and I'd been so sure I'd taken that razor out so that I didn't have any thing that could be remotely considered dangerous in my carry-on stuff. Ah well.

Just some bash quotes that made me giggle. )
