Reading [livejournal.com profile] thesimpleman's answers to a 100 question (or is it 99, since #44 is missing) survey. And cracking up at some of the answers. Possibly way too amused over this one:

83. Thought about running away?
I Did that once as a kid. I took my legos.

I have my priorities, dammit.

Oh, Judah. If I ever run away, I will take my legos and think of you. :D

Because I want to get to know you even better, even if I feel like I know some of you better than my RL friends already :)But, I'm curious! Don't worry about taking forever about this, impulsive answers are good too. Fill this out for me and I'll (maybe) fill it out for you!

Mmm, meme sheepage )

In other news, am at Carla's babysitting Amarah for the next week or so. It's okay, but, y'know, tiresome. And there's Savannah, who's as much of an attention-whore as baby Amarah. And this afternoon I didn't even have Laura for adult company. Nor, I might add, have Dad and Suzy shown up. Damnit. I'm trying to get my 'net fix for the day, and Savannah's begging to use the phone to call Laura, which I won't let her. *le sigh* I'm tired, and I want someone else to take over already. Coffee can only keep me going so long.

Fill out the meme so I have comments to read tomorrow sometime, yeah? Please? :)

Got bored enough to switch in new icons. I am being fickle with them of late. It is awfully tempting to upgrade to a sponsored+ account for extra iconage and such, but then... I don't wanna have to put up with the ads. When I am no longer a poor and starving student...I'll be poor and starving 'cause I spend my money on all the gimmics and doodads I couldn't afford before. :P

Boy 1: I fucking hate these stupid adhesive seals they put on CDs.
Boy 2: I dunno. I kinda like them.
Boy 1: Why?
Boy 2: Expending all that effort to get the seal off makes the music that much more enjoyable once you finally get the CD out of the jewel case.
Boy 1: Kinda like taking off a girl's bra?
Boy 2: Yeah, except CDs don't start giggling if it takes you more then fifteen seconds.

I had a very hard time not doing just that this weekend... It was cool to see Aston, and Darren, and the rest of the group. Those two and Milan are gone now. Paul leaves in a week and a half. There's fewer and fewer of the original group. Sad, in a way. Although of course they had to move on eventually.
I've remembered, by the by, what I meant to write up in an entry last week. I needed to go into Studylink, but I'd never been in there before. I knew just whereabouts it was, so on the Thursday I went there. Turns out I needed to go back again on Friday as well. Thing was, on Friday, I couldn't find it again. It was like those disappearing shops, Est Ages and all that. I knew I had to walking right past it, more than once. And finally I did see it, but it was weird how I couldn't find it to begin with.
Last night I dreamt about eating raw snake. Cobra to be precise. It didn't taste all that bad, and it was even better cooked. What a strange mind I have.

Interview Meme.
001. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
002. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
003. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
004. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
005. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Questions from my goddess [livejournal.com profile] virginhuntress.

001. What is your favorite thing about living in NZ?
My favourite thing about living in New Zealand is the food. Particularly mince and cheese pies, and all the different Cadbury chocolate bars. Vegemite, weet-bix... stuff that I couldn't get in the States. It's just different here, and I like it so much better.

002. What is your ideal career?
My ideal career... I don't know. I wish I could be an explorer on alien planets. That would be cool. Unfortunately, unrealistic at this point in time. What I really want to be is a zoologist and entomologist. Animals and bugs. I'm not so fascinated by bugs, except there are so many of them and they have their uses. Mostly it's animals I love studying though.

003. How were you first introuduced to the world of slash?
My very first piece of slash I ever read was some RPS: Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez from *Nsync. But I didn't really get into it until [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji got me fixed on Ronin Warriors, and the yaoi therin. And finally, out of sheer randomness, I decided Remus Lupin and Sirius Black were meant to be a couple, and went in search of fic.

004. As an avid bookreader (like myself), what are you top 3 favorite novels and why?
This one is hard. I've read and enjoyed soooo many books.

I think one of my favourites is Nimisha's Ship by Anne McCaffrey. It's sci-fi, my usual genre, and McCaffrey happens to be one of my favourites. I like this one best because it's just a stand alone novel, not part of any of her other series (except, sort of, the Coelura). And Nimisha is a smart, pretty heiress who is no Paris Hilton. She builds space ships, and tests them out... and she rises to the challenge of surviving and exploring when she gets sucked into an uncharted wormhole and spat out at the ass end of the galaxy.

Another favourite is Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. I like the whole series it belongs to. I get hopelessly attached to certain characters. I love how sarcastic the main chracter, Richard is. I like that when Richard and Kahlan fall in love, it doesn't alter their personalities drastically like what happens to some characters in other novels I can think of (who end up brainless twits that I want to smack just because omg twu wuv).

Lastly, I'm quite attached to The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. I like that second novel moreso than Interview with the Vampire--although still a good novel and all that--just because Lestat is such a... Brat Prince. I love him. I love those first two books he narrates. *nods*

005. What is a hobby/talent that you have that you keep to yourself?
Oooh, making me reveal something I've been keeping hidden. Okay, I have this tendency, when given graph paper, to design the layouts of houses. I'll even draw in furniture and label the rooms. I'll have a key for objects that it's not readily apparent what it's supposed to be. I've also done a couple castles. I just have this strong desire to make a visual representation of a home I daydream about. Or sometimes it's to remember something so when I (finally) get the Sims 2, I can design the house in a neighborhood. I swear I have just as much fun designing the houses as playing with the characters (especially with the money cheat so cost doesn't matter).

In a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] diea:

Me: I find it amusing how many times people forget the _ in front of my name. Not that you did. It's just it happened in some icon crediting by [livejournal.com profile] dragonrider7 recently, and in an entry today by [livejournal.com profile] cynicalpirate
[livejournal.com profile] diea: and in my user info which you pointed out a little while ago
[livejournal.com profile] diea: why did you include the underscore?
Me: because I had a feeling that if I didn't, lj would say "BITCH, that name's taken already!" And, would you know? I was right.
[livejournal.com profile] diea: really? there's another Xanthia running around? wierd
Me: of course, whoever this chick is, she hasn't updated in two years or three years, but whatever
Me: uh-huh. There's also www.myspace.com/xanthia as opposed to me, www.myspace.com/_xanthia Although I did get to have xanthia without the _ over at photobucket.
[livejournal.com profile] diea: at least you win at something. I always thought that it was because you wanted your name to be at the beginning of lists instead of the end.
[livejournal.com profile] diea: it was the only reason I could think of.
Me: hahahaha, no. Although that is a good reason.

Interview Questions from [livejournal.com profile] simple__man:

1. What's your favorite JTHM moment? Ooooh. *has to think really hard* It's been aaaaages since I've read JTHM, and I haven't read all of them... but... I think, the first time he met Squee.

2. Favorite HP pairing, and why? Oh, this one, Remus/Sirius hands down. It's what got me into the fandom, actually. See, for a long time I resisted Harry Potter, but finally I caved and read all the books. And then, about six months later, I got it into my head that maybe those weird slashers were right, and Remus and Sirius were made for each other (until he died, and then Severus helped Remus move on). Then I went searching for fic.

But really, besides the huge ass amount of subtext that they were More Than Friends and Certainly Not Brothers, they work so well together. Remus has totally got Sirius whipped, and acts as a sort of balance by being the Calm One while Sirius is the Wild One. And Sirius, I think, helps Remus loosen up a little and have fun.

3. Movie that never fails to scare the absolute shit out of you. Ummm. I don't really watch many scary movies, mostly because I find I can't suspend my disbelief for the stupid thing the characters do. And, I mean, I don't really scare too easily, at least, not scared shitless at any rate. Hmmm. Exorcist: The Beginning was pretty freaky. But, really... I reckon Signs freaks me out the worst though. Particularly if I watch it at night, out in the country or somewhere where I can hear the trees rustling in the wind. I remember the first time I saw that movie, I had to take the trash out, which meant walking across the dark yard, where, zomg, they could come out and kill me at any moment.

4. What was your first memory? My first memory is from when I was around 18 months old or so. My mum had to hang out the laundry, and being my typical clingy self, I wanted her to carry me. Of course, she couldn't carry me and hang up the laundry, so she had to put me down. She thought I might like it if she put me in the laundry basket, that I'd have fun standing there while she did what she had to do. I distinctly remember thinking, "I don't want to be here. If I cry, I'll be picked up." And so, I started to cry.

5. What sports do you like to watch, and have you ever played any sports. The only sport I really like to watch is netball (If you don't know what it is, click the link under 'About Netball' for details). I've tried watching rugby, but I often get distracted. And no other sport really interests me enough to watch it all the way through. I've played a little bit of rugby, but not nearly as much as I wish I did. For a while there I did play netball--it was totally random that I decided to play this all-girls sport that I had NO idea how to play. I did okay anyway.

(I googled to find a good definition of netball, 'cause I was pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] simple__man would have no idea what I was talking about. Zomg I could kill the Wikipedia definition. It's absolute shite. 'Cause, I mean, yeah, it's got similarities to basketball (and used to be called that until basketball became an international sport), but at the same time it's quite different. I prefer it. Whenever I played basketball in PE I always had the hardest time remembering I could run and dribble the ball, not stop and immediately pass.

...haha, the reminds me how one time we were playing basketball, and I got the ball and had to run to the opposite end of the court. Of course I was being chased as I dribbled the ball. I don't know what got into me but I couldn't even have been to the 3 pt line, when, worried they were going to steal the ball off me, I stopped and made the shot--and got it. My teammates loved me for that.

My aim is pretty shite most of the time though. It took a LOT of practicing to get my body to figure out just how to throw the ball so it got in the hoop. I'm pretty sure that shot was a fluke, lol. It's why, with Netball, I'm better as Goal Defend than Goal Attack. I get the mobility of two thirds of the court, without having to take shots--just intercept them and get the ball to the other end of the court.)

In other news, I wanted Liz to straighten my hair today, but she wasn't feeling up to it and I'm not confident enough to try it on my own yet. Instead I watched Revenge of the Sith with her and Anthony... and ate a lot of her chocolate. But oooooh, I love Samuel L. Jackson and Ewan McGregor. And I had such a hard time not laughing at slashy moments. Hehe.
Dad sent a text at quarter to five saying he was running late--hadn't even left Hamilton in fact. Bloody hell. He's going to be here v. late. He said something about how he hoped it wasn't too rainy... I'm oviously not up to date on how weather is around the rest of the country 'cause it was very nice here today.
I don't think Chunky is interested in me. Damn, damn, and bloody hell. Stupid boys!
I got quite the shock this afternoon though. There's several American guys who are students here, and they're in the comp labs a lot. There's one of them I've sorta had my eye on in a casual way, even if he'll wear his hat backwards (I rather hate that.). Well, when I got here earlier today he wasn't wearing his hat. Oh. My. God. The guy can't be more than 20 or so. Already going bald. Horribly so. No fucking wonder he's always wearing a hat. It sucks, 'cause he's got such a round head he'd look like ball if he just shaved off his hair. *snerk* He has playboy bunny pajama pants. They're v. cute.
After reading [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, I want a sharpie and some white-out, to draw top hats and iPods on all manner of crossing signs. *grins* Link. Browsing through [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes also sent me on a bit of an icon gacking spaz. Saw several I really liked. Now safely tucked away, with credit.
A Holy Mother of Fuck picture of Lucius Malfoy.

My body is starting to really disagree with the shitty cafeteria diet. I've got maybe two weeks more of this stuff for dinner every night. You'd think either a.) my digestive system would have rejected it earlier on, like right after break when I'd had three weeks of home cooked meals, or b.) manage to survive the entire time here without complaint. Mostly it's the fatty meats that sets me off, I think. Gah. *rubs belly tenderly* Not long, my pet.

Aaaaaand interview questions from [livejournal.com profile] dragonrider7:

1. What was your favourite Christmas/birthday gift as a child? my bike(s). Well, I did get new a new one after we left the States, and then another one when I got too big for that one.
2. How old were you when you got your first kiss? Umm, not counting the little kiddy kisses? First kiss with a boy at 14, first make-out at 17.
3. Name someplace on Earth you've never been to but really want to see? Athens. I really want to hit up Greece, but I'm not looking forward to the food 'cause my Aunt and Uncle who went there said it's really salty.
4. What's your favourite movie soundtrack? Ummm... that I own... probably my RoTK soundtrack. That I really desperately like but don't own? Oh shit... Black Hawk Down, Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2, oh gods, what other ones am I not remembering 'cause I haven't seen in ages? This is really hard. I tend to fall desperately in love with movie soundtracks, even if sometimes I hate the movie (like the Mission Impossible II soundtrack). I think, really, my favourite at the moment is the Blackhawk Down soundtrack.
5. If you could steal *anything* on Earth and not get caught, what would it be? At first, I thought of something sparkly like the Star of India, but then my evil side sat up and had to have its say. Soooo... all the oil reserves in the world. Monopoly, who, me? Nahhhh.

This is kind of a fun one.

...a random fact of your early childhood: Once, my brother, two of our neighbors and I were messing around in this storm drain pretending to be the TMNT (I was so Donatello) and we heard some kids passing by, so my brother yelled, "Kowabunga!"

...a fond musical memory: Listening to Savage Garden really loud in our conservatory at Pearson's Ave, and daydreaming about my Stargate SG-1/Gargoyles/Star Wars crossover. *laughs* Or slut dancing to "Lady Marmalade" with [livejournal.com profile] murkeye at Homecoming senior year even though we were not speaking to each other at the time.

...why you think you would or wouldn't like your 15 year old self if you met them: I'd like my 15 year old self 'cause I was so happy and just truly starting on the path to becoming how I am now.

...something slightly unusual that you do: I neatly arrange chips on the tray before I put it in the oven.

...something people don't always believe about you: my age? My taste in alcohol? The things I'll do for bar tabs? *shrugs*

...something that confuses people about you: my accent.

...what's been one of the highlights of the year so far: only one of them? Hmmm... doing the wet t- contest.

...whether there's someone you're glad to have met though dislike: Shit. I don't know. I want to misread that 'though' to say 'through' which would be easy to answer--[livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t--but someone I'm glad I've met though I now I dislike him/her? Well... [livejournal.com profile] mintkisu, I guess.

...something about the person who started you on LJ: Well... technically Leah is the first to have introduced me to lj, not that I can recall her username. But then [livejournal.com profile] d_e_l_i_r_i_u_m told me about [livejournal.com profile] paris_cafe which is how I found [livejournal.com profile] virginhuntress who gave me the code to get myself an lj. How fucked up is that? :P

...a recent thought of yours: "Pigs sweat, men perspire, women glow." Fond memories of a visit to Dawn's where I said something about how girls don't sweat, they glow, and her dad started laughing 'cause of the other reason girls can be glowing.

From [livejournal.com profile] autumnjedigirl...

1. Your LiveJournal user name and what it means: Xanthia is the nickname a regular of a chatroom (I was also a regular of) used to call me; a variation of the screenname xania_99. Only, well, with an underscore so lj wouldn't piss me off by saying, "Sorry, that name is already taken."
2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your LiveJournal represent who you actually are? I think perhaps 7 or 8. There's a few things I don't share on my lj.
3. How much about your life do you post to LJ? Sometimes I post way too much nitty gritty details, trying to remember everything, and other times it's vague and I can even confuse myself later on as to whatever the hell I was alluding to. So it averages out.
It gets long )

o3. What's a word that rhymes with "TEST"? BEST.

On crying )

Last night was the Resident's Ball. Was rather looking forward to it, along with every other girl in the hall. I mean, I had a dress already, and hell, I managed to score a date! And it was going to be great. It was amusing as hell, sitting around watching the girls get ready. Kate and Kirsti did the hair styling for most the girls. And Victoria was doing make-up for people. And the girls were being girly and vastly amusing a moi. It took maybe ten minutes for me to get ready.
Mostly I had a good night. But I could have kicked Adrian if only I'd been more angry. I felt so mellow and unaffected, but still hurt. And had a fun time despite it.
We all headed down to the bus stop--I hadn't heard from Adrian so I figured I would see him there at the v. least--to catch the first bus at 7. And we get to the Awapuni Raceway, and get through with all the coat checks, pictures, bathroom runs, and have drinks and our chairs set up for a good view to watch the rugby. Yes, the first 80 minutes most everyone was sitting or standing around focused on the TV for the game. Which, yay, the All Blacks won.
But I got ditched by Adrian. Something about how he found out a couple days ago that he got into the navy and would be leaving in a few weeks. Because, y'know, it's impossible to just have a good time together until then or something. And he just wanted to have a few drinks with his mates. I couldn't even find it in myself to get angry. Had a moment of weakness when he left me to my own devices and a bout of involuntary tears decided to have fun. Gah. Took a bit, but once I got past the worst of it I went off to find the girls again and have a good night with them.
And I did have a good time anyway. Even went into town for a couple of hours with Shan at about 12:30ish. These girls in the line to Highflyers bought me a rose from this lady selling them after they heard how I got ditched. And Shan bought me one as well. So I've got two roses in a mug of water in my room. They're a bit beat up, having been in my possession as I danced in Highflyers and in this other place where Shan's friends had been. One of those friends, Shan and I went off to Subway, missed the 2:30 bus, and ended up catching a taxi home... just barely beating Annalise, Victoria, Kate and Sarah coming back from town as well.

And now, on to more interesting memes!

The Rules
First, write down the names of 12 characters. Then read and answer the questions. You can't look at the questions (or click on the cut) until you write down the 12 characters you're going to use.

01. Linden Rathan
02. Min
03. Kahlan Amnell
04. Legolas Greenleaf
05. Azirphale
06. Regulus Black
07. Karigan G'ladheon
08. Robinton
09. Selendrile
10. Muggles
11. Marius
12. Aubery

(I love how I managed to not repeat a single fandom)

And you click this once you have your twelve )

I've been so tired today. I was talking to mum and I kept making typos or missing words entirely. I was thinking complete sentences, but they weren't being typed as such. She's sent me a parcel (containing pretty lingerie, yay!) that will arrive soon hopefully.
In a discussion in [livejournal.com profile] support_hp about finding people reminding you of a particular character, and I mentioned this: "There's also this Asian kid, who has spiky black hair and glasses, that gives me James vibes. The only thing I hate is one time I was sitting next to him in the computer lab, and he continuously jiggled his leg, and the sound of his pants rubbing was really annoying." which gave [livejournal.com profile] simple__man this bunny: "There's a fic in that, the annoyance of James' pants rubbing driving Remus to DISTRACTION in the library..."
And now I want to write it.

The other day, [livejournal.com profile] wytch_sansmerci had done several quizzes and memes, and this survey. One of her answers, I thought was a reference to Dane Cook. I mean, c'mon, any of you DC fans would think the same if you read, "Hahaha! Shoes! You kill me." Well, I'd hoped to find it quoted somewhere so I could explain it to her (alas, no luck, and I suck at remembering the exact words, and can't be bothered listening to the track repeatedly to type it up myself), and in the procces, discovered... he has a myspace account. (Incidentally, so do I.)

The Superfinger
SU-FI
rok on / fuk off

If you're doing the old fashioned finger you're a spaz. The finger is for lightweights. Here is what I started a while ago.

"What the hell is the SU-FI or SUPERFINGER (see my icon on the left) on your website Dane?" People always ask. "Where did it come from?"

WHAT IS THE SU-FI ?

Well? )

I love him. So much.

A pic KAH can appreciate )

+1 Shoebox update (I love those boys!)
+1 Laocoon's Children update (Stealing Harry 'verse rocks)

Now if only there was a Prankster's Guide update and Cartographer's Craft update. That would kick ass liek whoa.
I want to do the quiz over at [livejournal.com profile] ljdq but I lack in the way of funny. I'm thinking maybe I'll do it later tonight after getting a bit hammered. Then I'll be nice and incoherently drunk. But happy. And maybe quote-worthy then.
Also, mild pimp for [livejournal.com profile] support_hp because new members would be cool. It's nice to have a small community for discussing HP stuff that isn't focused on any particular generation, pairing, character, or theme. And isn't elitist or anything. But with some more members, particularly the more creative ones in the way of fan-stuff, mebbe we can more participants for the challenges.
I <3 House. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] blue_raven for taping last week for us!)

Well I took more quizzes )

What's with the f-list and the polls? Seriously, come across half a dozen polls (or links to) in the last two or three days.

The High School Meme

1. What high school did you go to? Klahowya
2. What year did you graduate? 2004
3. What were your favorite band(s) or artist(s)? Jimmy Eat World, Semisonic, Greenday, S.O.A.D...
4. What was your favorite outfit? My pirate shirt, pleated black skirt, knee high striped socks, and platform shoes.
5. What was up with your hair? It... wasn't that bad... most of the time. With the right hair products.
6. Who were your best friend(s)? Rhibber, Ali, and Ash
7. What did you do after school? Read, played Diablo, took walks, a few chores, and avoided doing my homework. When we had the dog I'd take him for walks.
8. Where did you work? I didn't.

10. Who did you have a crush on? 10th grade it was Derek (Ballarina/Gymnast boy), then there was Chris, and then nothing until Jerrod... although Sean Bowman was hot.
11. Did you have a girlfriend/boyfriend? Chris for nearly two months

19. Best event ever? Homecoming Senior Year
20. Did you have a clique? Yeah, we were the Happy Tree Posse.
21. Where was your Senior Prom? it was held on Bangor base, in this nice hall there.

Oh, witty saying of your choice here )

If I came to visit you...
1. would you be pleased to see me?
2. What sights would you show me?

4. Would you have me meet your family and/or your friends?
5. Where would you take me to party?
6. Is there anything else special about your part of the world you'd like me to experience?

...now put this in your own journal, so I can tell you.

Up at 7 am on a Saturday morning. It was cold. And icy. Dad and I went to this men's breakfast he had to go to involving several of the men from his church. I only went along because I'd help afterwards with the groceries. But I got to have some nice pancakes with spiced apples. Mmm.
But after we were done we got a call from Eileen--the woman I stayed with for about a month and a half before leaving for Palmy--because her kitten Cara got run over. Quite sad, really. She was not even a year old. And yet, for her age, she was huge, and still growing. Not anymore. Dad and I still went grocery shopping, but went going to go to Eileen's almost straight after to bury the cat.
Picked up some new hair ties (my old ones are getting stretched and threaten to snap) as well as a clip to put it up in the twist like I usually do. Had the bright idea to get Eileen a little pick-me-up. Not chocolate because that would break her diet. So we got her a bottle of chardonnay. She liked that. And the hug.
We are trying to teach Buddy to not sleep on the bed or couch: he has his own bed. Trouble is, Dad and I don't enforce it often enough. Bad, bad us. Far too lenient. Ah well.
Went over to [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t's for a while this afternoon. Had invited her over to watch movies with me, but not only was Damian there, but they're looking after her little cousin. So no dice. Was bribed to visit with the promise of banana muffins, arrived, and got nothing. Well, a milo eventually. And we watched 101 Dalmations (live action, not the cartoon version) at little cousin's insistence, only to have her not watch it all, while we did. I enjoyed it mostly because of Hugh Laurie and also Jeff Daniels.

The HP meme of d00m )

Fuck that thing is long.
[livejournal.com profile] enders_lament: the CD you sent me I finally got to listen to. Dad brought down all my mail so now I have the CD. Thank you! Lots of good music; you and my brother share a lot of common tastes in music, and he's my other source for good CD mixes so yay!
Well, I have my dress for Dad and Suzie's wedding; it's black. *laughs* It's a gorgeous dress though. I wish I could show you pictures. And the important question, would I wear it again--yes, yes I would. It's going to look really nice with everything else, too.
All of us kids are going to be up there with Dad and Suzie as they take their vows. Although, I'm going to be breaking tradition somewhat by being on the man's side. Eh bien. Suzies three girls are all wearing emerald green dresses, two of them being these identical strapless ones. (I tried on one, but it was a bit loose on the bust) The other daughter has a different style, one with straps, and my dress is identical style but black. (they didn't have my size in green) Dad wants him and Iain to be in identical tuxes--all black with high collars and tails like Iain wore to his school ball. No idea what Suzie's dress is supposed to be like.
Somewhere between now and the wedding, I need to acquire a nice set of black heels. Ones that won't kill my feet, but look good and make me tall enough so my dress doesn't trail on the ground too much. But given that the wedding has no set date yet, I'm in no rush. Plus I'm waiting to hear from Suzie as apparently her daughters are looking into getting matching shoes of trademe and possibly I'll end up with a matching pair too.
'Sfunny, it's been years since I've been to Wellington, so it's only now that if someone mentions Cuba street I'll actually know where they're talking about. I'd been there the last time I went, but I was 11 or 12 and didn't know that it was Cuba street, any more than I realised I'd seen the Bucket Fountain Lynds used to keep telling me about. Still, it was fun to walk around, and I wouldn't mind living there. I finally got to see Te Papa, which wasn't around when we went all those years ago. Now my big plan in the way of seeing more of NZ is to hit up the South Island which I haven't been to since I was three and remember nothing of.
Got introduced to a new concept with all the cafes we hit up: eating cake served not with whipped cream, but yoghurt. It was such a bizarre concept, but I wasn't adverse to trying. Quite nice really. I'm not a huge fan of yoghurt so I didn't like too much. It does decrease the richness of the cake so it's not sickening though, and that's nice. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I'm such a nerd though. Iain would be playing his games on his computer, so there wasn't much I could do, until he handed me his Gameboy advance with the classic NES version of Zelda in it, and the unofficial guidebook. So I spent hours playing Zelda, and was gutted when the batteries crapped out on me at some point early Sunday morning, and I lost pretty much everything I'd achieved because I hadn't been saving. *sigh* Took me several hours on Sunday to get back to the same place where I'd been, and a few more to advance two or three more levels. I went to bed at about 3:30 this morning because I played for a couple hours after we got back from this one farewell party he dragged me to.
I accidentally left a couple things behind, so I will have to plan a day trip at some point in the near future with the express purpose of getting them back. It's okay I accidentally left my toiletries bag, the only thing I'd really want from there desperately is my nail clippers, the rest of it's just travel size stuff I already have. But I also left my little anorak in a bag which is so much easier to carry around than my big bulky (yet warm and rain-warding) leather jacket.
This entry is turning out to be longer than I thought it would. Ah well. If you're reading it, I'm sorry it's so long and possibly boring, and if you're not, I'm sorry it's so long you're skipping it.
My room is so much warmer now I've got an extra heater in it.
I should go study again.

Fin.
