So, I have the LJ and the DW, the Skype and the Facebook. But I feel, in a way, that I have lost track of some people because they've also migrated to things like Twitter and Tumblr, which I do not have. And I'm wondering if I should be a sheep and get those too, to find and follow the people who's* posts I enjoyed when LJ was the centre of my netverse?

Where do I even begin?

Fin.

*ETA who's or whose, whichever is correct. I forgot my English lessons omg.

The Five Questions Meme

How this meme works:
1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - Update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - Include this explanation.
5 - Ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Anyone want questions?

*****
My questions came from [livejournal.com profile] diea:

1) If you could pick one fandom to live in as an extra character, which would you choose, and what would do you do/be there?
I think I would love to be a part of the Stargate 'verse, either SG-1 or SGA, not so big on SGU. I'd love to be on one of the SG teams going out exploring the universe, preferably not one of the unlucky ones who don't come home. Just for kicks my expertise could be in zoology/xenozoology and you know I'd have found the coolest animals to be pets.

2) Which old school video game would you love to bring back and replay?
My favourite NES games as a kid were either the Mario trilogy or Legend of Zelda. I haven't kept up with how they've developed over the years but I still get a kick out of rifling through my brother's guidebook/walkthrough for Zelda and how much fun it could be.

3) Which five fictional characters would you invite to your wedding?
YOU. Oh wait, you're not fictional. You're totally not invited then. :P
-Marius, from the Vampire Chronicles, because I adore him. Obviously for him to be there my wedding is a night wedding but that's cool. We're going with a medieval feast anyway.
-Masterharper Robinton, from the Dragonriders of Pern. I'd love to hear him play and I imagine he'd keep the crowd well entertained. :D
-Abby Scuitio, from NCIS. She's freakin' adorable and you know she'd totally get into the swing of things.
-Cara, from the Sword of Truth. Okay so I'd be pulling her away from her duties protecting Richard but she'd be cool to celebrate my wedding with, now she knows how to party. :D
-Teal'c, from SG-1. Everyone takes a drink any time someone gets him to say, "Indeed."

4) Consider your life. How would it be different with zombies in it?
Well I suppose it would depend on the level of the invasion. But essentially, it would be quite different. For one thing, instead of living at a house by the beach along the Kapiti Coast, I'd be living in a secure cabin with Alan on Kapiti Island. We would have a boat to make forays over to the mainland. I can't remember if Kapiti Island has a source of fresh water but I think it does, so we'd be able to survive indefinitely on the island, until the invasion could be quelled or died out.

5) How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck had a catapult?
This question made me laugh out loud. So much so it's going to be my facebook status. :P And a woodchuck could chuck a hefty amount of wood, quite the distance, with a catapult.

Okay, updating a bit later than I intended. But still. Had a nice day. Didn't straighten my hair, but did get the laundry done. Did go to the car museum with Alan. That was a lot of fun and of course made me happy. Also, cooking spaghetti bolognaise for dinner and having it turn out wonderful (like it usually does) makes me happy. Good food makes me happy. And now to sleep.

Jim Beam Rye and coke makes me happy. And I don't mean just the 'heading towards tipsy' happy, I mean happy, because it's a fine tasting drink. And I like that. And I like that my dad gave it to me for my birthday. But what makes me happier? Sharing* a glass with my darling man as we watch the movie Gran Torino. That was a movie we saw trailers for, but did not go to the movies to see. I'm still really glad we own it now. It's just a wonderful movie. It's funny and bittersweet and real.

*I first typed that out as 'sharking' which is a whole new typo-word I've not come across before. But part of me wonders how the definition would go for such a word. Hunting sharks? Pretending to be a shark? Chasing wo/menfolk in a predatory yet lusty manner?

Got three whole hours on Sacred 2 today, without it crashing, although I swear it came close two or three times. Not to mention three hours on that game, for all I didn't seem to actually do a lot, was, well, quite enough thank-you.

I didn't straighten my hair like I planned to, or do the load of laundry. Both of those can be done tomorrow, though. In the morning. Because tomorrow afternoon Alan and I are visiting the Southward Car Museum. That shall be fun.

Ahem. Unfortunately I did not post yesterday for my Eight Days of Happiness meme, because I was up late entertaining our guests, Chris and Tarns. Made me quite happy to see them, and have dinner with them. It was a good evening, and I didn't even keel over from watching Australian Idol, shockingly enough.

Today's happy event was riding with Alan up to Peka Peka beach, and straight ahead where we drove on to the beach, there was a whale. It was probably a pilot whale, and quite possibly the very same whale that caused a huge traffic jam last night as it swam past Pukerua Bay and everyone and their dog had to stop and have a stare.

We were a bit worried about how close he was to the beach, given that the water is actually quite shallow for quite a ways on the beach, but as the tide receded I guess he must have swum out with it, because he wasn't there when we left the beach a couple hours later. This is good. I didn't want there to be a beached whale fracas...

And the weather has been great lately. This also makes me happy.

Alan came home this morning, after two days in Auckland. Funny that a trip that takes me hours by trains takes him only one hour by air. But still... happy to have him back. It makes sleeping at night that little bit easier.

Going out for lunch, and then up to Peka Peka for a bit of sunbathing. It's August and technically still winter and so it makes me happy that even for a little while, I could get some sun on my skin (not long, though, before cool breezes became too much, and the clothing came back on).

It makes me happy to see Gratch playing with one of the freebies Alan brought home from the expo, a stress ball that is light enough that she can bat around and pick up and rake and chase all around the house. It makes me happy to hear the jingle of the bell on her collar as she goes chasing it down the hallway, or even, for a minute, batting it to me so I could bat it to her. So cute. Just like how she becomes the velcro-kitty on my man's computer chair, climbing up the sides to perch on the top and 'kill' the chair.

This? This is because I do not like the classics. Or rather, I have frequently been disappointed by the classics I have been made to read. Also, because my preferred genres are sci-fi, fantasy, horror, action/adventure/thriller, murder mystery, and satire. Thus? Most of my kinds of books, while popular, are not generally the highly-lauded zomg must read books of the century or whatever. *shrugs* But who cares? I read more than six.

Anyhow. Onwards and Upwards.

Today I'm happy to have played Sacred 2 without it crashing on me. I'm happy to have watched such fun comedies as Two & A Half Men, and Big Bang Theory. I'm happy that Joe has offered to make me a hot chocolate as I sit here wrapped up tight and snuggled in front of the computer.

I have discovered that deciding to do a meme involving a positive mood post, seems to just invite frustration and bad moods from me. Thus, today, I have left it to the latest to try and discern something about today that has made me happy...

Completing wordfinds and drawing spaceship schematics, that makes me happy. Lorne-centric fanfic, particularly of a Lorne/Weir or Lorne/Teyla flavour, that makes me happy. (If I could find more than the 2-3 Lorne/Beckett fics I've ever found, that would make me ecstatic. So would being able to complete the Lorne/Beckett fic idea I had when I first discovered that pairing.)

1. Post about something that made you happy today, even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this every day for eight days.
3. Tag eight of your friends to do the same. Who tags, ever? I mean, really.

French toast with banana, bacon and maple syrup for breakfast. That made me happy. The sun being out today, with the promise of spring. The daffodils under the tree in the back yard. That makes me happy.

So I have no excuse for my lack of updating or keeping up with lj. I just haven't.

Alan lost his job. Was made redundant. Now doing temp work for them until he can find something better.

Will get around to posting pictures of Gratch eventually. Love her to death, but the little tart has a bad habit of waking us up at godawful hours in the morning for some love and affection. Not on, mischief. Not. On.

Anywho, meme time. Pick a fandom and I will tell you who I would...

Your result for The Attachment Style Test...

The Free Agent

You like to be independent, to play by your own rules. You're not terribly interested in finding a partner and settling down, and it makes you nervous to imagine that someone might depend on you for anything. Were you to find the right partner--someone as independent as you, probably--you'd not be too put out about sharing your adventures with him/her.

Fictional characters with whom you might identify: Han Solo (Star Wars), Beatrice ("Much Ado About Nothing")

HanSolo.jpg Beatrice.jpg

Other Attachment Types:
Secure: The Unicorn | The Cuddleslut | The Free Agent
Preoccupied: The Cling Wrap | The Squid | The Insect
Fearful: The Doormat | The Leper | The Exile
Dismissing: The Hermit | The Stone | The Player
Confused: The Waffler

Take The Attachment Style Test at HelloQuizzy

And they ARE the characters I identify with. :D I found me an independent to share my adventures with.

And I had to do it alone, because Alan was still in bed. Nekkid. And everyone looks a bit freaked out if a nekkid man is chasing sheep. Boy sheep. They'd been munching in the paddock next to our place but the gate between the paddock and our lawn was open. So I chased them out. And later we went into town to see The Zohan.

But then... here's a meme:

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)

1. First Name: Hana. And get it right. It's not pronounced the same as "Hannah." It's more gentle than that. Prettier. If you can go "ah" everything will be okay.

2. Age: 22, zomg, but I turn 23 next month. Like... the 15th of next month, so, yeah. 1 month to go.

3. Location: We tiny little 2-bdrm farmhouse between Palmy and Pahiatua. But I work and make attempts at studying in Palmy.

4. Occupation: Part-time checkout chick, part-time uni sucker, and that's about it.

5. Partner: Alan, my darling yummy man. Who I never expected to fall for, but have found myself madly happily in love with. Adore him, and living with him. It never did bother me to realise the age difference except right back at the very beginning, when I thought, "Damn, he's gonna think I'm too young for him."

6. Kids: I have none. He has four and two of them are older than me! Okay, technically Joe is also older than me--he turns 23 on Wednesday. But, uh... we won't talk about that.

7. Brothers/Sisters: One brother. Three step-sisters. Other step-siblings on Gary's side, but haven't really had a thing to do with them.

8. Pets: No pets, as of yet.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
- Alan
- Work
- Uni
- Computer Game
- Upcoming birthday

10. Parents: Mum, who's a kiwi, married to my step-dad (an American) and living in the States. Dad, who's an American, married to my step-mum (an Australian) and living in NZ.

11. Who are some of your closest friends?: [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t, [livejournal.com profile] diea, Alan, Matt, and Ngamiri. [livejournal.com profile] thesimpleman, sometimes, too. :P

My darling has fun teasing me over my rage at getting words wrong. Disorientated verses disorented. Perverse verses perverted. "Extra-sensual perception" rather than extra-sensory. How to pronounce 'tortilla'. It irks me to get it wrong.
