Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Nov. 1st, 2005 07:35 pmI got into a bit of a cleaning frenzy today. For one thing, the dirty dishes in my room were starting to smell. So, I thought, I'll wash them. I take my pile out there, and there's a bunch of dirty dishes piled up already. I also know there's a bunch of dirty dishes lying around the common room. I had to fill the sink three times to clean them all. Then I dried them all and put them away in the cupboard--except for the plates and bowls that had accumulated from the dining hall. I stacked them with the food trays from the dining hall, and I took them back to the dining hall just before dinner.
Added to that, I did a bit of a clean-up of the common room. I picked up loose notices, old pamphlets, last month's Sky magazine, old cans and such (which, disgustingly enough, still had alcohol in them and had made a bit of a sticky mess on one of the tables). The general mess just totally got on my nerves today and I HAD to fix it. I was tempted to write a notice on the whiteboard requesting people not leave their dirty dishes lying around everywhere to attract flies and ants... but quel est le pointe? It won't change anything.
Elyshia thanked me for making an effort to clean the kitchen and stuff. No one else seemed to notice, or at least I didn't hear any of them commenting. (Ahhh, the one advantage of thin walls, is being able to overhear kitchen conversations... even though sometimes I wish I couldn't hear them.)
I checked, and discovered my library books are due back on Thursday. I've only got The Hobbit left unread. I panicked for a moment and thought it was Wednesday, 'cause I hadn't changed my sheets--but no, it's still only Tuesday. Phew. I really should vacuum my room as well.
I'm really tired, and I don't know why.
Fin.
