We make plans for good times
Apr. 12th, 2006 02:54 pmFirst things first: a pimp. I here pimp the new ficcom* by
cynicalpirate and suggest you partake in the poll at the end of the entry, at the very least to encourage her creativity. The ficcom and poll can be found here. Now go!
* By ficcom, I mean that it is a fic, that looks like the screenplay to a sitcom, or rather, a Britcom. It is amusing. And it's the Marauders. What's not to love? GO READ NOW. And vote!
And finally, because Wikipedia isn't broken anymore, the wikimeme gacked off everyone and their mothers. Go to Wikipedia. Type in your birth date (but not year). List three events that happened on your birthday. List two important birthdays and one interesting death. Post this in your journal. Because I am a glutton, I did four events, three births, and two deaths. Plus I think they're fascinating. And so, for July 15 we have...
4 Events:
1381 - John Ball, a leader in the Peasants' Revolt, hanged, drawn and quartered in the presence of Richard II of England.
1815 - Napoléon Bonaparte surrenders from aboard HMS Bellerophon.
1916 - In Seattle, Washington, William Boeing and George Conrad Westervelt incorporate Pacific Aero Products (later renamed Boeing).
1988 - Die Hard opens in theaters, starring Bruce Willis.
3 Births:
1606 - Rembrandt, Dutch artist (d. 1669)
1870 - Vladimir Dmitrievich Nabokov, Russian publisher and politician (d. 1922)
1946 - Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei
2 Deaths:
1410 - Ulrich von Jungingen, German Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights (killed in battle) (b. 1360)
1997 - Gianni Versace, Italian fashion designer (b. 1946)
And in a sort of curiousity trail about Versace's murderer, I discovered this about Andrew Cunanan:
Trivia
-Was praised by PETA vice president Dan Matthews in Genre magazine for murdering Versace "because [that] finally got Versace to stop using furs."
-Cunanan's murder spree was the subject of a Cliff Notes Theater sketch on the Drew and Mike radio show in Detroit, Michigan in 1997.
-The house boat that Cunanan shot himself in sank in December, 1997 after "developing a leak".
Am also slightly amused to realise the Sultan of Brunei is 19 days older than my father. I already knew we shared our birthday, but I didn't realise he was born the same year as my dad. Heh.
Was nagged by both Iain and
shiseiji to email my mother, so I did. Gods. I love my parents. I really do. They spoil me rotten. But it bugs me that I had both her clamouring for emails and him calling, both wanting to know how I am. I mean, yeah, sure, I understand why they're interested. But, honestly, if anything truly interesting was happening, I would tell them! As it is there's nothing major. At least, nothing I consider major. You've seen how my entries can get devoid of stuff about my life and filled simply with picspam, iconspam, quiz and memespam. It's because I have nothing of note to say. Or I'd say it. Y'know?
That is all.
