Not Talk or Other.

Am with [livejournal.com profile] diea that the ragged edges looks rather good.

I'm still kinda depressed. Mum's questions about how I am didn't help much. Dad's questions about my voting habits didn't help either. Bloody people CSI and NCIS now.

Play says: although it did open my mind to the possibility of transferring to the Massey campus down in Wellington.
Play says: I think I could like living there.
Play says: and I'd see more of my brother.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: and where is that from where you are now?
Play says: about a three hour drive south
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: ah
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: might be cool to be closer to your brother. Maybe you could meet some more ppl there too.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: Since there realy isn't anyone you're super close to where you are now.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: is the campus smaller there?
Play says: yeah. I mean, flatting and getting a job would certainly help in increasing my social circles, but I also just don't really have superlove for this place
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: yeah
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: I could kind of tell that.
Play says: I'm guessing it is. I think Iain showed me their building once... or at leas the accommodation building they had
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: how much of a process is it to transfer ?
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: could you start there in the fall?
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: ha, now I'm asking you questions.
Play says: well it depends on if that campus supports the courses I wish to take, or if I can take them extramurally
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: A smaller campus makes it a lot easier to meet people though b/c you see someone in a class and then maybe you'll see that person again at meals and you can actually get to knwo ppl outside of your dorm or whatever.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: True
Play says: well, I probably will go flatting next year, rather than living in the accommodation
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: yeah
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: gosh, it'll be your third year, won't it?
Play says: second
Play says: I'm only an ickel firstie
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: goddam seasons
Play says: ha, try being a 20 y/o firstie running into 20 y/o third years. I feel so behind.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: aww don't feel bad about it.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: at least you're on track with your studies and not taking freshman classes in your third year.
Play says: yet I'm tired of studying already
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: lol
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: understandable
Play says: at least tonight I have CSI and NCIS
Play says: although it means not watching Bend it Like Beckam... but I've seen that movie before, so I'll live
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: I found an NCIS icon community
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: yay for Abby icons!
Play says: lol
Play says: I like Abby
Play says: but I have quite the crush on Tony
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: lol
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: Tony is cool
Play says: well I think he's rather cute too
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: sometimes he gets annoying, but I forgive him mostly.
Play says: well, sometimes, he gets this little boy smile, and it kills me
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: I suppose. Danny and Martin are hotter though.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: lol He does have that
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: it's his secret weapon
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: brb
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: back
Play says: can I kill my best friend's brother? Do you think she'd mind?
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: does she like him much?
Play says: sometimes yes, other times, no
Play says: he's 14, and SUCH the youngest child.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: oh god
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: fourteen-year-old boys
Play says: yeah.
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: Sue has two grandsons who are 14. One of them, Tyler, is funny for a whole ten minutes and then you jst want him to shut up
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: I talked to Feera today.
Play says: yeah, I saw in your entry
Ambisextrous- 'A book-and-record love' says: She said that she got your message at CoE, but she never goes there anymore really. She wanted me to tell you that she got it anyway.
Play says: haha, alright, that's good
Abby Sciuto says: why are you wanting to kill your best friend's brother? I mean, what's he doing that particularly annoying?
Play says: he was talking to me
Abby Sciuto says: lol
Play says: I dont' like the text he uses in IMs. It's hard to read, really. And he fucks up Spanish when he tries to use it.
Abby Sciuto says: oh, this is the Spanish-learning kid
Play says: yep
Abby Sciuto says: why does he talk to you?
Play says: because I'm Andrea's friend, practically like a sister to her.
Abby Sciuto says: oh
Abby Sciuto says: so he's known you for a while and everything
Play says: yeah, most his life pretty much
Abby Sciuto says: ah well he'll grow up eventualy
Play says: wow, now I know people from lj with a myspace
Abby Sciuto says: lol
Play says: *whistles innocently*
Abby Sciuto says: lol
Abby Sciuto says: ha, Mel.
Abby Sciuto says: corruption is good for her.
Play says: hehe
Play says: I can't believe she didn't know what 'lmao' meant. I mean, I know I had to have someone tell me, but I guess I was more likely to encounter it and learn it, with how I used to frequent chatrooms
Abby Sciuto says: yeah that suprised me too
Abby Sciuto says: but then again she doesn't chat at all, so that's probably partially why.
Play says: yeah
Abby Sciuto says: I am so awake right now
Play says: I envy you
Abby Sciuto says: aww
Play says: I got woken up this morning... like, middle of the night morning
Abby Sciuto says: oh, what happened?
Play says: by this horrendous banging going on upstairs
Play says: I didn't know wtf was going on. Apparently it was some guy friend of Kate's getting in through her fire escape.
Abby Sciuto says: what the hell?
Play says: but I've not been sleeping well lately
Abby Sciuto says: yeah I've noticed
Abby Sciuto says: you've been tired lately
Play says: my dreams have been all screwy and weird, and I wake up all the time
Play says: not to mention I can never sleep in, because people talk in their normal voices in the kitchen, with no thought to those of us who don't have 8:00 lectures.
Abby Sciuto says: that sucks.
Play says: and it's not like I can tell them to please be quiet, because I ~know~ they won't remember.
Abby Sciuto says: are they scary and disturbing dreams or just strange ?
Play says: just strange. Not disturbing or anything. I just know I've been dreaming a lot even though I can never remember the content
Abby Sciuto says: that really sucks. People should know to be more considerate...man, if there is one thing I always try to be it's considerate.
Abby Sciuto says: that's frustrating.
Play says: especially in this house, where the walls are so thin
Play says: but Kate's loud no matter what time of day or night
Abby Sciuto says: it's just like...when you live with people, you hve to think of them too. It's just the way it is. grr
Play says: and the others just don't bother to be quiet
Abby Sciuto says: Reminds me of my RA freshman year
Abby Sciuto says: have you tried talking to them before?
Abby Sciuto says: who is in charge there?
Play says: we have an RA... but I just don't see the point in mentioning it. I mean, they're not going to change. I could keep asking. I could step out there and say, "Hey, STFU." but they'd forget five minutes later. They just don't think.
Abby Sciuto says: well maybe the RA could say something and it would make more of an impact...but then maybe not. It's difficult to get anything through some ppl's heads.
Abby Sciuto says: ah, darling, I'm sorry they're being such idiots about it. I know what it's like to not get enough sleep.
Abby Sciuto says: Makes everything harder.
Play says: and the thing is, I had a lovely week just before that, when we had a break, because there was only three of us... so I could sleep to my heart's content.
Abby Sciuto says: it's always worse when you know how good it can be
Abby Sciuto says: *hugs*
Play says: thanks *hugs*
Abby Sciuto says: how long does this semester last?
Play says: 'til november
Abby Sciuto says: mmm...that sucks.
Abby Sciuto says: is there anythng you like about that place?
Play says: what, the hall, the school, or the town?
Abby Sciuto says: I mean....it just doesn't sound like a very friendly place
Abby Sciuto says: I don't know....all of it I guess.
Play says: I like my room in my hall, despite it being by the kitchen. It's nice and big.
Play says: I niether love nor hate this school
Play says: and as for town? Well, Scarfies is all right, but it's not like I can't find cool pubs in Welly or something
Abby Sciuto says: yeah
Abby Sciuto says: well...it seems to me taht you should really look into transfering. It couldn't hurt.
Play says: yeah, I think I will.
Abby Sciuto says: If it could make you happier, that would be a good thing.
Abby Sciuto says: because I like you happy.
Play says: I like me happy too. And there really isn't enough to hold me to this town now I don't care to get into vet
Abby Sciuto says: not doing that for sure now, huh?
Play says: *eye twitch* Okay. There is this totally hyper guy right next to me. *grits teeth* I want to kiill him. His loud girl mate next to him annoys me too. She's always so damn loud.
Abby Sciuto says: you poor thing
Play says: I'm being quite the bitch today, I think.
Abby Sciuto says: It's okay. You have the right.
Abby Sciuto says: Especially if you havne't been sleeping.
Abby Sciuto says: I know I have no patience at all when I'm tired.
Abby Sciuto says: can't hold it all in all the time. It's not good for you.
Play says: no... the only thing is that they don't deserve to suffer for my ill mood. But at the same time, I just want them to shut up.
Abby Sciuto says: So rant to me about. I don't mind.
Abby Sciuto says: That's what I'm here for.
Play says: well this girl, I've got irritated with her before. Whatever she's doing, it entertains her, and she doesn't laugh quietly
Play says: it's loud and obnoxious. I usually try to keep my laughter quiet, and maybe earn the odd look or two for my snickers...
Play says: and she talks in a rather loud 'normal' voice, where people are s'posed to be quiet in the lab since people are often working
Abby Sciuto says: It's the whole consideration thing again.
Play says: yeah, especially when there's notices to the effect
Play says: I don't expet the same library hush, but at the same time, you've gotta think of the other people in the lab
Abby Sciuto says: exactly
Abby Sciuto says: It seems like what they really need are some manners lessons. Maybe the uni should make a mandatory class.
Play says: How to Remember Other People Exist and Might Be Having a Bad Day.
Play says: for short: Consideration for Dumbasses
Abby Sciuto says: that is awesome
Abby Sciuto says: that should so be a class
Abby Sciuto says: mandatory for everyone
Play says: yes.
Play says: or it should be a course in your last year of highschool
Play says: with a refresher course in your second year at uni
Abby Sciuto says: oh god. That's where they need it, but then they'd all forget it over the summer.
Abby Sciuto says: ah, there's a plan
Abby Sciuto says: see? that's what's wrong with this whole, "I'm only going to look out for myself" attitude.
Play says: that attitude only goes so far
Play says: because really? Everyone has to deal with other people
Abby Sciuto says: exactly
Play says: not everyone can live like a hermit
Abby Sciuto says: lol it's pretty tough in today's world
Abby Sciuto says: the thing is that kids shouldn't have to be taught this stuff in school. That's what parents are for! To socialize their children and teach them how to behave in public and around other people!
Play says: yes, but parents are almost never around
Play says: they're both forced to work heavy days, and don't get to see their kids
Abby Sciuto says: I mean when the kids are young
Abby Sciuto says: true, but still, that's a parent's first responsibility and if a person's career is such that she can't spend quality time with her kids perhaps she should have thought of that before she had them....goes for fathers too...I'm jsut too lazy to type both pronouns.
Play says: at the same time, companies don't exactly encourage the family life... people face pressure to work all hours
Abby Sciuto says: I'm not saying that parents ought to only stay home with their kids, but if they don't have any time to teach their kids basic consideration and manners, there is a problem.
Abby Sciuto says: true
Play says: well yes, but I think parents should all be forced to watch shows like Supernanny, Demons to Angels, or Little Angels... anything to show them how to treat kids
Abby Sciuto says: and they need to realize that Jimmy doesn't need that shiny new Playstation and Susan doesn't need to newest walking talking shitting baby doll.
Play says: not to mention, kids? shouldn't have a TV in their bedroom, or a computer.
Abby Sciuto says: Dude. Word.
Play says: I'm with my parents on putting the 'fmaily' comp out in the open so parents can moniter their kids
Play says: and kids aren't going to be active if they can just lay in bed watching cartoons
Abby Sciuto says: my sister works at freaking Burger King. She gets low income rent and free day care....but she buys all this shit for my nephew. He has waaay more toys than he could ever play with, plus a VCR and a TV in his room and a little video game box thing.
Play says: personally? I want that my kids bedroom is just that: a bedroom. They sleep in there, they do school work in there, and sure, they can read books in there. But if I have my way, there will be a completely seperate Playroom with all their toys
Abby Sciuto says: *nods* good idea
Abby Sciuto says: And if a parent says, "Well we can't afford to have a play room with three children" or something well....maybe they shold have thought of that before they had the third kid.
Play says: I will work with my husband/father of my children on just how the hell we will raise these kids
Abby Sciuto says: OMG, you have no idea. At childfree every now and then we run across ppl who are like "Well I definitely don't want kids, but my wife/husband does. We just avoid the subject." *bangs head against wall* Children are the ultimate joint commitment. Couples need to be open and understanding of each other's views on parenting and children.
Abby Sciuto says: The other day there was a story of a military guy, didn't want kids at all. His wife was on BC and he used condoms, but his wife wanted kids. So waht does she do? She sabotages the BC and the condoms and gets pregnant. It's like....I just don't understand why they got married if they differed on such an important issue.
Abby Sciuto says: You're going to be an awesome mother though.
Play says: yes
Play says: I just hope I can find a good husband
Play says: and father
Abby Sciuto says: yes well...there's taht.
Abby Sciuto says: but dude, I know this is kind of cliche, but you have a lot of years ahead of you.
Play says: it's true
Abby Sciuto says: There will be someone out there and you are intelligent enough to recognize him when he shows up.
Play says: yes. I'm not impatient.
Play says: I just wish I could find some fun guy in the meantime, that won't disappoint me like the others have
Abby Sciuto says: I know what you mean.
Abby Sciuto says: It's so frustrating to have this instinct and desire to be with someone and not have anyone to be with, and then to deal with the immaturity of the opposite gender.
Play says: yes
Abby Sciuto says: brb
Play says: k
Abby Sciuto says: back with more muffin
Play says: *snickers*
Abby Sciuto says: it's not really muffins....we didnt ahve any muffin pans, so it's more like cake really.
Abby Sciuto says: but it was made out of muffin mix
Play says: fair enough
Abby Sciuto says: but anyway, yeah, the whole relationship thing is frustrating as hell.
Play says: yep
Play says: stupid boys
Abby Sciuto says: lol
Abby Sciuto says: can't appreciate a good thing when they have it
Play says: no, it doesn't appear that they can.
Abby Sciuto says: which, I don't know, they've got to be bloody blind and stupid not to realize it.
Play says: only thing I hate is the creepy guys who realise just what it is to find me, and I just can't stand them for all they'd lavish me
Abby Sciuto says: where, oh where is the Land of Happy Mediums?
Play says: I know
Abby Sciuto says: It's all about balance and moderation in all things.
Play says: yes, or something. I'd say something optimistic but I don't care to right now
Abby Sciuto says: no need
Abby Sciuto says: because...the thing is...you always hear people talk about how their life has gone wrong and it's always because they did too much of something or didn't do enough of somethng else, it's never, "Man I just do what I need to with everything and my life sucks." You just don't hear that.
Play says: either that or the blame lies entirely on other people
Abby Sciuto says: Unless it's that the person is trying to balance but can't b/c they've taken on too much stuff, which is back to the extremes again. Of course if you just stick in the middle all the time, life gets boring as hell and that's why you have to go off and do somethng crazy once in a while.
Abby Sciuto says: Right, but that's just b/c they're lying to themselvs.
Abby Sciuto says: of course I'm just as guilty of going to extremes as the next girl. It's a lot harder to act upon than it is to say.

Fin.
