So we're reading Ethan Frome in my American Lit. II class. And I suppose it's all right. Not a book I'd go out and read under normal circumstances, but for this class--I bear it fairly well. Anyway, we tend to discuss the chapters the night after we have to read them.
Yesterday, or maybe it was the day before, we were talking about courting and such... (and the color red, where I got to make a fun use of the word "vivacious") and we got to discussing the differences between how a guy feels when a girl walks up to him and says he's hot, and if a guy walks up to a girl and tells her she's hot. Then Quinn wanted to know which of us girls would actually walk up to a guy we know and seriously tell him we think he's good looking.
Two raised their hands. I wanted to. But the truth is, I never have. That isn't to say, though, that I won't. I'm really tempted to do it, actually.
It would be fun, I think. Amusing. To take such a risk. To do it without making him think I'm not serious is the hard thing. Trying to stop laughing from nervousness and amusement. And maybe having something good come of it. That should be fun to experience.
And I do love fun.
Fin.
