Oooweeeeeeeee
Feb. 5th, 2004 09:08 amI have this poem. I wrote it one morning, shortly after getting up. Part of me thought it was really good. But, when I shared it with someone I thought might like it, all I got was an, “Okay.” *blinks* I wanted more of a response, like where there were flaws, or what was really neat about it. I was pretty sure it wasn’t that bad… certainly nothing to get all excited about like I’m a genius…
But it’s so rare that the mood to write an actual poem strikes me, that I usually am very careful in its creation. I’m glad I didn’t throw that poem away, to be lost forever… but part of me had left it in its notebook and cringed at the memory of something not so good. Yet, upon rediscovering that notebook, and rereading the favorite song lyrics, the drunken ramblings (part of me didn’t want to lose the thoughts of when my mind was, well… altered), and, yes, the poem… I realized it wasn’t nearly so bad as memory had classed it.
Isn’t that strange, how certain feelings and emotions can blur the memory to make it seem better or worse than it really was… and how shocking it is to discover that?
Unfortunately, I cannot share that poem with you right now because it isn’t memorized, and the notebook isn’t with me. So… you’re saved that at least. *grins*
1. How far have you read in the series, and which is your favorite book?
-I have read all the way up to the tenth book, although I didn’t finish the last third. But now I’m rereading; just need to get my hand on Crown of Swords. My favorite book, though, would probably be the Dragon Reborn or the Shadow Rising.
2. Does the WoT take place before our time, after our time, or not in this universe?
-Well, as best I can tell, it’s sort of before and after our time, but might also be not in this universe.
3. If you're a girl, which Ajah would you choose if you were Aes Sedai?
-Green. The Battle Ajah. Plus, I’d probably end up building a little army of Warders, and maybe have a few women Warders too.
4. If you're a boy, would you rather be a Warder or an Asha'man?
-Asha’man. I would rather wield the One Power, with the Dark One’s taint and eventually go mad than be at the beck and call of some manipulative witch.
5. Who is your favorite amongst the Forsaken?
-Demandred. He’s so alluring.
6. Robert Jordan admits that much story background is taken from tales of King Arthur and from Lord of the Rings. What similarities have you noticed, and do they add or detract from the story?
-Well, there’s Artur Hawkwing Pendraeg for one. And the Sword that is Not a Sword, which was driven into the Stone of Tear. Yeah, I saw the bloody connections. They work. Same with the Trollocs. And.... the Warders' color shifting cloaks. There're others, I'm sure I've forgotten.
7. Which character do you think you most resemble (intellectually and/or physically)?
-I think I pull off the younger, formerly stilled Siuan Sanche in appearance, but I think I’ve got Perrin’s intellect. *grins* yes, I think like a guy. But I hate Faile.
8. What one Talent would you like to posess?
-I think Dreamwalking would be fun… but also to see people’s auras and have the Dark One’s own luck (like Mat) is better.
9. Who is your favorite of the boys?
-I’m all for Mat and/or Logain. And Rhuarc. But he’s not for the same reasons as Mat or Logain.
10.Whose your favorite WOT girl?
- I think I’m going to have to go for tempremental old Sulin.
11. If Robert Jordan actually gave a shit what you thought, what would you tell him to write a book about?
- He needs to focus his writing more. Instead he jumps around and pisses off the writer with all the Aes Sedai maniplutative bullshit that really isn’t necessary, like and Aes Sedai deciding if she had more authority that another because of how long each was a novice, accepted, and how strong each is in the One Power… I mean, it’s so stupid! Enough Daes Dae’mar already!
Fin.
