Dear [livejournal.com profile] _xanthia,

I ______ you. You have a nice ______. You make me _______. You should ______. Someday I will ______. You + me = ______. If I saw you now I'd ______. I want to ______ you. I would build a ______ just for you. If I could sing you any song it would be ______. We could ______ under the stars. I want you to ______! The sex position I would most likely want to try out with you is ______.

(P.S. ______.)

Mmm, yesterday, after my insomnia got me up at four-something in the morning, well, I decided that just after seven would be a grand time to talk that walk listening to happy upbeat music. So, into the CD player went Eve 6, and off I went in time to miss Calum and Michaela getting up (how/why those children never sleep in is beyond my ken). I decided to alter my route a wee bit as well, for variety's sake. This is an idea that could have gone really bad really fast...

I'm walking down a street when out of the corner of my eye I see two rottweiler's trotting up to say hello. Now, I'm not the slightest bit afraid of dogs, and even though I hadn't even seen them 'til they were nearly on me, I didn't freak. It was just the way they approached me was that of excitement, like, "OOH! Someone to play with us!" rather than bounding at me barking furiously and deciding they wanted to try human. Still, two puppy-like rotties each weighing probably half as much as I do or more, who never learned not to jump on people?

They were also completely oblivious to my commands to go home, and wouldn't leave me be. They either walked deliberately in my path to slow me down to jump at me, and were under the impression I had treats in my pockets along with my cold hands. So, darlings that they were, I didn't really want them following me my entire walk, and I couldn't just leave two rotties wandering around, y'know?

So I walked towards the houses in the direction they'd come from, hoping at least one of the neighbors would know who the dogs belong to. Fortunately, I picked a house where the young couple and their kids were already awake and up, so I didn't disturb them on that count. I still apologised as I asked if they knew who might own them, and also, if they didn't, call someone to pick the dogs up. The guy stayed outside with me and the dogs to keep them wandering far or scaring his kids while his wife called the pound--but seven something on a Sunday morning? Pound was closed. So a few more calls later, and eventually the dogs were picked up by the MPs (military police. Oh the joys of living in a military camp. It's not that bad at all, actually...). I hope they found the owners and stuff, 'cause the dogs were nice, if, y'know, playful and adoring.

A few links, thanks to my f-list and my explorations:

YouTube video: Duckling feeding Koi

Not Fanfic: A Tale of Two Hearts -A sequel, of sorts, by Peter S. Beagle, of The Last Unicorn. Does anyone but me remember the movie? Read the book?

It's possible I got a wee bit carried away, and it's Atlantis-centric fic, although, yes, some from other fandoms. And crossovers. And AUs. All sorts. It's also very random, as I followed my thoughts and memories rather than any sort of order. Err... yeah. So.

Fanfic:

With Six, You Get Arse -Fred/George, George/Harry, NC-17. Aside from my dislike of Ginny's characterisation as a socialite harpy, and the overuse of 'length' as the euphemism for cock... funny and cute and hot. *nods*

Five Conversations in April - one of the many contributions over at [livejournal.com profile] nest_of_spiders that I quite enjoyed, this is an itneresting Sirius-Lily friendship fic, with a side of James/Lily and implied Remus/Sirius. :)

Certified & Certainly, with how SG-1 deal with psych evaluations. Certified is set Season 2, post "The Tok'ra" and is really quite delightful. Even Teal'c joins in on the fun. Certainly is set sometime Season 7, and shows how no psych will ever go near Daneil, and proves the team is just fine despite any regs calling for an evaluation, and all the shit they've been through. Plus, like there's any psychiatrist or psychologist out there who could handle these guys and their issues.

Cusp - Sorta Carson-centric, a day in Atlantis where one too many accidents suggests something is even more wrong than they realise... and Rodney is hard put to figure it out, while Carson and John both have their ways of saving the day.

Assignment -Same author and 'verse as the previous. John tries to explain his connection with Ancient tech. He askes Carson for help.

Somnus -Same 'verse, but you don't need to have read the others to understand and enjoy this. Again, largely Carson-centric, but this time set offworld. I think possibly one of my favourite things is that Rodney and John are both such boys who think on the same track when they first see Carson's improvised weapon. Full of mystery and suspense and possibly even the Three Laws, it's engaging and a full-fledged tale.

In Defense of Honor -That bit I said about John and Rodney being such boys? Same thing in this fic. They are such dorks, but they're dorks who know how to get revenge. This isn't the same 'verse or author as above, though, at least, I'm pretty sure it's not the same author. But it's so funny.

Spaceships, Cool - An NCIS/SGA crossover. I'm a sucker for crossovers with NCIS (Daniel/Tony is one of my crossover OTPs) and this one's pretty sweet. There's a couple other fics set in this 'verse, Fidelis, & Hurricane Abby.

Rollin' -McKay/Winchestor. Dean. Winchestor. Zomg. The porn, it's... mmmph.

The Towers On The Heights Reach To Heav'n's Own Blue -Technically a Cam/John friendship, one could imply the emails are totally boy-like flirting. Cam takes joy in provoking John with sports jibes, and the occasional "You suck" "No, YOU suck" type argument. John's frustration leads to Rodney researching the sport of the Ancients (cricket), an underground movement of trading sports vids (not enough hockey for Rodney), and the discovery that the galactic sport is...soccer. And all very amusing with the emails between John and Cam.

Bright Lights, Big Cities -Supernatural/Heroes crossover. Sam/Peter. They're a lot alike. And there is sex. Hee. Plus the comments lead to some more Sam/Pete fic, and a YouTube vid. :D

The Best Things in Life Are Free -There's an 80's movie, Can't Buy Me Love. Remake it as a John/Rodney AU. What's utterly delightful? The other characters from the show are still themselves (even Teyla speaks Teyla-speak for all she's a popular cheerleader, and Zelenka's crush on Elizabeth? So sweet.) while also being very well played in this 'verse. I just adore it, and all the little porny spin-offs and glimpses of possibly futures for this 'verse.

Leftovers -Jack didn't get away completely unscathed from his little blending with a snake in Into the Fire. It left traps.

Twenty-four hours with a Rodneysaur -Rodney as a dinosaur thanks to Ancient tech. Makes him a total babe magnet. :D It's so cute. And illustrated.

Waiting on the Weekend -Five drabbles involving Jack's best week ever. I think I was giggling madly by 'Wednesday' and didn't stop.

Down on the Ranch -I'm a sucker for Atlantis AUs, particularly John/Rodney ones. Dunno why, but I am. In this one, Rodney has inherited a ranch from his deceased uncle, Sumner, and John is the ranch’s general manger. They work together to uncover the mysteries behind Sumner’s death, and to find out what the Rathe corp. has to do with it. Kolya makes an appearance, as does certain members of SG-1, briefly.

Rain Dances, Little Dreamer, Therapeutic, & Ready -Speaking of ranches, a Firefly AU. The characters. On a ranch. Mal/River, of course Zoe/Wash and the potential for Simon/Kaylee. It's really quite sweet, and even Badger shoes up.

Broadway, Singer, & Or Something Like It -Firefly Nashville AU, by the same author.

Body -Jack/Skaara. I know, it's so wrong, but I still have a pervy liking for it. Set directly after the movie, well, right before they leave Abydos anyhow. Jack's been perving Skaara, and Skaara definitely wants Jack.

Lead Us Not -Also Jack/Skaara, because I'm just so pervy. He knew from the beginning that it was a thin line he would have to tread; the way Skaara had immediately reminded him of Charlie had been, in a sense, a relief, a kind of salvation from the all too noticeable reality that Skaara was older than his son had been, and was just far enough along towards being a man that it was far too easy to slip into the careless daydreams that resided just this side of the word statutory.

Summer House, Shore Leave, & Sabbatical -An SGA/Eureka crossover. I'm not familiar with Eureka myself, but it's interesting anyhow. And John/Rodney is a high source of gossip for the little town. And quite funny.

The Gifts of Friendship -A Winter Celebrations fic, featuring Legolas and LadyVs original character Echiril. Cute, fluffy, funny.

Inhibitions -Sirius is lacking in inhibitions, so when he decides he wants Remus Lupin, he goes for it. Light, fluffy.

Paper, Scissors, Yak -Wondering about the Abydonian's version of Paper, Scissors, Rock. It's called ‘sand, papyrus, tent, yak, evil-overlord’. In some versions, the "evil-overlord" is replaced with "mother-in-law." It takes both hands, and sometimes facial expressions and hip gyrations.

Bear Hunt -Booth and his son Parker go on a Bear Hunt. They're not scared!

The Price of Admiralty -Two ficlets covering just why the Asgard have never named a ship the Samantha Carter.

Look After You -Tony finda a bundle at his doorstep. Yes, it's babyfic. It's also quite cute and lightly crosses over with Jag.

How to Take Care of Your -Jack composes a care guide for his teammembers. They find out, and write their own version.

The Care and Feeding of a CO -Lorne looking out for his CO. John getting to have fun exploring his city.

The New Frontier -A post-Wraith war fic. John is such a hero, despite the losses he took. Told from the POV of a ten-year old girl who idolises him as he passes through her world. Kolya makes an appearance here, too.

Letters From the Wasteland -AU, First World War, Snoopy's Christmas. John and Kolya, Ace pilots.

The Jenny Code -Imagine if they had an IDC code to alert Atlantis that they'd been compromised. Imagine if an offworld team, including John, gets compromised.

Postcards to Jeannie -Set after McKay and Mrs. Miller, Teyla begins a postcard exchange with Jeannie, with additions from other teammembers. Image-heavy, but a delightful read.

The Other Side -Elizabeth in an Alternate Reality is visited by John Sheppard, asking her a favour to save the Elizabeth in his reality. Very sweet John/Elizabeth (from the more canon reality, but eventually in the other reality two).

My Space Adventure -The Scrubs crew visits Atlantis. Can I just say I love my Atlantis crossovers as much as my AUs?

Ra Shi Da -A stray dog follows Jayne back to Serenity, but before they get there, a group of thugs tries to mug Jayne. Things get a mite ugly...

A Bit of a Mix Up -Jayne-Wash bodyswap. Funny.

Old Warriors Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, & Part 4 -Mal and Jayne, many years have passed.

Next of Kin -While it may seem as though River is safe from the Academy's clutches, she can still just as easily be declared incompetent. In such a case, her next of kin decides her fate. The crew has a way of insuring that the Tams never send her back... This is long. And plotty. And shippy. The OCs are fantastic. There's a sequel in the making, but I'm going to wait until it's finished before I read that one.

Project Quantum Pegasus -Sam of Quantam Leap gets to Leap into John Sheppard in Atlantis. John and Rodney are married, and this isn't the first Leaping that Sam has met McKay. Sam guessed from the doctor's tone of voice that this was an occasion for pouting, so he pouted. He nodded slowly, winced as the movement made his head pound worse, and pouted some more. Relieved looks all around the bedside rewarded him for a good guess.

Unconventional Beauty -Who doesn't love a retelling of a Fairytale? John and Rodney as Beauty and the Beast, in a rather unconventional way, yeah?

Scenes From Another Life -This is an old favourite of mine. A Harry Potter AU where he gets raised by Sirius and Remus, and delves into certain events upon meeting Ron Weasely on the train for their first year at Hogwarts. It's sweet, even though bad shit does happen, because, well, it's Harry being raised by Sirius and Remus, which is an AU take I love muchly.

Reclamation -What if Tom Riddle had never made his horcruxes, had never gone on the path to being Lord Voldemort? Just how different would things have been, with him as the Defense Against Dark Arts professor?

Out of West -Another John/Rodney AU. They had a relationship, many years previous (which we get glimpses of through flashbacks) and now Rodney McKay decides to take a roadtrip to meet up with John once more, and apologise. And give him back his car. And, y'know, patch things up, if he can.

String Theory: a Concerto for Violin in D Minor -Yes, AU, John/Rodney. Rodney is a master composer. John is a violinist, the son of a violinist, and no one sees his potential like Rodney does.

The Theory of Acquired Characters -AU, John/Rodney. (Loosely) based on Never Been Kissed with Rodney undercover to persuade John to join the Atlantis expedition. "No, no, no,” says Rodney dismissively, waving one hand, then abruptly recovers from his attack of Canadianism. “Well, yes. Actually.”

Before & After -John was never quite fixed after Conversion. . When they go to declassify the project, naturally, the goverment tries to get rid of a no longer entirely human John. Rodney protests. Atlantis protests. Told from Zelenka's POV, and is John/Rodney. I can't escape it! “Rodney,” John replied, only he was grinning widely, periwinkle lips against white teeth, “You didn’t defend me. You led a small revolution for me.”

Whatever You Wish -Yes, it's Cinderella. And all that. Quite delightful. I mean, hello, the cat... John was a little fuzzy on the details of what happened next, but when the shimmering smoke cleared, there was a large, very tall, well-muscled man standing where Mr. Fluffy used to be. He had dreadlocks and was wearing an awful lot of leather and he grunted, sort of in the back of his throat, a cut off Mr. Fluffy meow. ...is Ronon. ZOMG!

Oookay, so I'm gonna leave it there, I think. I did get more than a little carried away. Because, um, I started this entry yesterday. Oops. And this is so not good for my insomnia. Double oops.

Fin.
