So. It's been a while since I wrote. Tuesday of last week was working with Rhianna and Alicia, splitting and stacking firewood. That earned me $75, which surprised me. I didn't expect to be paid $10 an hour. Anyway, I'm still recovering from that event.
On Wednesday I didn't do much until I had my eye appointment. It was very short, compared to what I'm used to. But they say my eyesight has improved somewhat, which is what they expect at about my age. Meh, eventually I'll look into laser eye surgery to get rid of wearing glasses completely. After that I introduced mum to TCBY's and so we feasted on some ice cream.
Dawn arrived later that evening, and then came all the being a good host stuff. It was cool to hang out with her, but she certainly has become more odd as the years have passed. Apparently I had a hand in corrupting her, but then it went in turns I never would have expected. *shrugs* Also learned that she's been diagnosed with having type two bipolar disorder. Last week just happened to be when she started her new mood modifying drugs; be damned if I remember the name. It wasn't Lithium.
On Thursday she and I watched a few movies. She'd never seen the Scorpion King, so we watched that. I got a strong desire to watch a movie with Gary Oldman in it, so we watched Air Force One, which she also hadn't seen. (I <3 Gary Oldman) And then, because everyone should watch this movie at least once, we watched Ocean's Eleven. Made fun of her, because she's really good at making messes, and she sure covered about a third of the floor space in my room with her stuff.
I taught her how to play Double Solitaire, as well as Idiot Solitaire. It was no surprise I won the first few times, but it wasn't long before the amount of cards I won by was only one or two. The more we played, the more she was able to win so we evened out I guess. I just had to teach her Idiot Solitaire for whenever she was bored out of her mind.
Friday we dressed up all goth, with the dark lipstick and dark eye shadow. She was wishing she'd brought her white face paint, but I've never, never been into the liquid paper white face thing with the dark eyes and lips. But then, I'm already pale enough. She let me wear her shiny Trinity style trench coat while she wore her other one, and we took a few photos. I really wished I was the owner of the coat I wore... it fit me very well.
I went online and finally dloaded the Xvid codec so we could watch Equilibrium. (I only had DivX and not all my movies work with it) I had to tell her to sit down and pay attention a few times as the slowness of the movie fought with her ADHD. It was the promise of great action at the end, and that she needed to pay attention to understand the story that kept her watching. Needless to say, she was very satisfied with the ending. And then I went for something a little lighter... Ice Age, for example. I swear that movie gets better every time I watch it.
On Saturday she packed up her things, and we went to the mall before taking her home. Of course her first stop was Suncoast to check out all the anime stuff. Next we hit up Hot Topic in its temporary location. I had a look around but was very reluctant to spend money, although I did help Dawn spend hers. She'd got a pair of gauged earrings for herself, and some Mario magnets for her bf. But she was 70 cents short of getting another stamp on her frequent buyer's card. Well, I happened to be rummaging through the button container to see what funny little messages I could. And one of them, I happened to really like. So I threw that in so she could get the extra stamp.
At Dawn's home I was very surprised when Jean showed up. I haven't seen Jean in forever so we spent the time I was there catching up before mum was finally ready to leave. Because traffic had been really bad on the bridge towards home, we delayed going there by stopping at mum's friend Sylvia's for dinner. I talked a lot with Sylvia and her daughter Sarah about Harry Potter, the books and movie.
When we came home I learned Rhianna had stopped by, so I called to find out why--she'd been by to give me the money I earned. Well, instead we made arrangements for me to come over yesterday to hang out and all that. So in between doing laundry, we watched a Japanese movie (with subtitles of course) called Shall we Dance? And then we watched the first four episodes of Ronin Warriors. At Rhi's invitation, I called home to ask if I could stay the night. Then we went into town to drop of Shall We Dance at the movie rentals, to get some donuts, and to pick up my birthday present. We were going to go to the mall for that, except that we got there at 6 and that's when the mall closes. Instead we went to B&N and I got to pick out any book I wanted, so I grabbed Temple of the Winds.
Rhi has this idea that I need to find a quiet place where other people are, read the passage where Drefan gets his spine ripped out by his brother, laugh out loud like I didn't in the school library, then turn and read said passage aloud to a person next to me. *giggles*
She and I were going to play on the computers in her room, except that the computer I would have used was acting up. So I got to play on the laptop for a while as she tried to fix it, or at least figure out what was wrong. I think. Anyway, got a little bit of online time on before we went downstairs to watch movies. Because I haven't seen it since I saw it in theatres close to 10 years ago, we had to watch Beauty and the Beast. And because I hadn't seen it in an even longer time, we also watched Thumbalina. By the time it was over it was sometime after two and we finally decided it was time to sleep.
And now I'm home. Been reading Pillars of Creation. It's really riveting. Whee. Oh yeah, and my button I got says, "You nonconformists are all alike." Love it.
