WORK FOR ME!

Well, my birthday went down well. I was a bit too lazy and distracted to write about it yesterday--distracted because I was watching Stargate Atlantis. I very much like it, and like how independent it is from the original series. I mean, about the only common facts are that there are Stargates, they started off at Earth, and a couple characters happened to have been in a few episodes of SG-1. Other than that, new world, new galaxy, new baddies, new hero. Woo. I like very muchly.
According to our records (if you filled in the stuff correctly) you have been alive for yet another year! Just think of all the pain and suffering your mother went through to birth you on this very day! I hope it was all worth it for her! :)
Seriously, do have a good birthday, and party hard for all of us here at DeadJournal.com!
That's the message I got on my birthday from the lovely DJ crew, while I got another PM here at CoE from the Birthday crew, not to mention comments on livejournal, deadjournal, and here at CoE all wishing me happy birthday... was v. cool.
So anyway, Ali and Rhi showed up at my place after having gone swimming, and we headed off to the Red Apple Diner. Well, actually, at first Rhi was driving us to Applebee's until she made a turn that let us realize she wasn't in the same frame of mind as the rest of us. We got to tease her a lot. Waited for a little bit before Mum and Jess finally showed up. Unfortunately Kaisa couldn't come, and Gary must have been working late so he was a no-show as well. It was a very nice meal, and I liked my presents.
I'd actually been allowed to open half of them after I woke up, and got the other half at the restaurant. The presents I opened in the morning were a hand-made card by mum, a little scenty bathroom something or other, a necklace, a pinkish lipstick, and a VW bug tin that had bubble gum in it. At the restaurant I got another VW Beetle to augment my collection, a few earrings, a new camera (I was surprised Mum remembered my other had died)... I can't remember if mum gave me anything else...
Jess got me a $15 B&N card, while Rhi gave me Temple of Winds and Naked Empire, two books I'd picked out for my birthday the day I stayed over at her place. Ali's contribution was to supply us with some more candy and soda for the sleepover. And she brought some movies.
First movie we watched at my demand was Love Actually. I haven't seen that movie since the one time I saw it at the movies, and I adore it. 'Twas very cool. Then we went upstairs and played some Solitaire Showdown and Scum for a while, before beginning another movie. This time I felt in the mood for the Mummy Returns. I was delighted to catch about five minutes of rugby--All Blacks vs. Pacific Islanders. We started a third movie, Rhi's choice this time, The Net, but got rather bored and Jess was tired. She's not big on the up all night thing. So we went to bed. I got harassed for owning all three LoTR soundtracks, but playing one of them helped me fall asleep at least.
Before bed, I also printed out the Viking Birthday Song (see Lait's journal) for them to read, and showed them the above picture. I got this once out of one of those 50 cent machines, as a fake tattoo. I applied it to my left wrist and it happened to look very real and very cool. When I showed it off at school (this was a couple of years ago) a lot of people thought I should get it done for real. I had this picture, lost it when the comp died, and found it again. As Jess has gone and got herself a tattoo (which I never expected) she recommends the guy who did hers. Willing to even drive me there. I just might take her up on her offer.
Up at about ten to Rhi's chagrin, and we watched some TV before they buggered off. Rhi was happy that she got to finish a book of mine she'd picked up, Dragon's Bait. I wouldn't let her read it when we watched Love Actually but she did when we were watching Mummy Returns. Ehh, it's a cute book.
Speaking of books... today my library books were due so we had to go into town; also had other errands such as banking a check and getting dad's b-day pres...
Sort of started at one end of town and went towards the other. Home Depot for mum for some planters that she didn't find, the post office to pick up a parcel, the bank for me, then B&N. There I found this awesome book called the Dragonology that's all fancy looking, very beautiful and full of lore and illustrations. Mum found an author shared the same name as my dad, and the topic was such that my father is wont to read so I got him that instead of the requested classical CD. Was amused to see a book titled "Michael Moore is a Stupid Fat White Man" as I have "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore for my brother... And then to the library.
The Silverdale Library is very small and the selection blows. I prefer the Bremerton one but made do. Of course demanded that since we were in Old Town Silverdale we make a stop at Page's Books. There I found several books, including a kid's book I started way back in sixth grade that I never got to finish, and have never seen before today. It's hilarious though, because when I read it it seemed such a loooong book and now, when I think of the length of books I devour, it's like a hershey's kiss compared to a king size bar. So now I've got quite a nice amound of reading material.
Alicia and I went to go swimming, again planning to ambush Rhi as we couldn't get her on the phone... and I needed to drop off a book I'd borrowed. But she wasn't there. Her car was unlocked so I left the book on the front seat. There was a wedding celebration at Lutherhaven so Ali and I had to drop our plans for swimming. We don't like swimming at the park, even if it's right next to Lutherhaven. Lutherhaven is more pleasant and less peopled, usually.
*looks around* Well, I did it. I persuaded my parents to go out to dinner and leave me at home. I don't even know where they're going. Yay! Better remember to feed myself though. And I'm going to turn off the radio and put the TV on or something...
*gets annoyed* I can't access my horoscope. Everytime I open the email Explorer has an error and closes. Quite annoying. Think I may have some issues at lj too. I've had Explorer close when I try to access some other pages too... not cool. Don't like my area of influence being cut off from me. :D
I refuse to hide this quizzishness.

The Hermit often suggests a need for time alone - a period of reflection when distractions are limited. In times of action and high energy, he stands for the still center that must be created for balance. He can also indicate that withdrawal or retreat is advised for the moment. In addition, the Hermit can represent seeking of all kinds, especially for deeper understanding or the truth of a situation. "Seek, and ye shall find," we have been told, and so the Hermit stands for guidance as well. We can receive help from wise teachers, and, in turn, help others as we progress.
