I've possibly lost count of how many cups of coffee I've had today. More than I usually have in a week, month... something. It's been a lot. And yet... not all buzzed on caffeinne. Weirdness.

In other news, I hate the Handy ad. The narrator guy grates my nerves. I want to shoot him.

Ooooh, speaking of shooting, I finally watched Sin City earlier this week. Surprisingly, there was a scene that I literally covered my eyes--too late to save my brain--because it got to me. If you care to know ) I think I need to watch it again, just to make sure I get everything that went on. I was slightly confused. And I probably missed stuff.

Um, yes. That is all. For now. But I've been making icons, again, and I suspect there may be a post soon, with more icons. What fun! :P

I find the air today is stifling, like I'm constantly at the edge of a panic attack because I simply cannot breathe. Inside, outside, it doesn't matter--the air is still and thick. It's not that I need to drink--I drink, it does nothing, it's my airways that cannot expand enough, or something.

In other news... have baked apple muffins. They're possibly not my best effort, but, hey, I haven't made any in years.

Dad and Suzy are watching Easy Rider, but I'm not really paying attention. Except to note the part with Jack Nicolson and go, oh my, how young and good looking he used to be.

So Eileen kindly took pictures of me last Saturday, "before" and "after" pictures from getting my hair cut (and straightened). I... got a lot of hair cut. It was a huge pile. Kinda wish I'd managed to get a picture of that, too. Ah, well. Anyway, Eileen said she'd get the pictures to me by Wednesday, on a CD, but... it's Thursday, and no CD. Damnit.

Not going to push her about it, though. She was nice enough to take pictures in the first place. My f-list can wait to see the effects, methinks.

Nothing else happening at all, really. All my Christmas candy has been consumed...no more chocolate to satisfy my cravings. Damn.

Oh, yes, this is my first entry of the year. Woo. I totally failed to get drunk on New Years, despite an abundance of Jack Daniel's, tequila, sambuca...yeah. There was alcohol. I just wasn't drinking it. And I totally tuned out the ramblings and confessions of Ange and Jas'n, who were pished. But then, I was trying to watch more Stargate SG-1, damnit!

We also finished watching Firefly and Serenity also. Plus the outtakes. So many more lj icons make sense to me now. Liek whoa. :D

Okay, yeah, totally still alive and all that jazz. Why no posts?

Well... who wants to hear about my Christmas? I mean, really. *shrugs* There was family, food, waaaay too much sugar, a remarkable restraint with the booze, and, of course, presents. I think I managed to do all right and getting the right gifts for people. Although Iain is the hardest fucking person to get presents for, EVER. Shockingly succeeded just fine with my dad...

Anyone remember Charlie Bear? 'Cause Ange got me another bear to go with him. So far, unnamed, and I'll try to get pictures up, too. If I had Charlie here, I'd get pictures of the two of them together. It's just, Buddy (dad's poodle) has this crazy idea that Charlie is, in fact, a toy for him. Much the same way he'll fixate on Suzy's rubber duckies, particularly the ones with squeakers.

Speaking of Ange, I've been spending a whole bunch of time over at her place the last few days, as we've been watching Stargate SG-1 all over again, as she acquires each new season. Well... actually she's only got Season's 1 and 2 so far, but, yeah. We've been watching them. And, since I didn't get the one thing I really asked for--NOT that I'm complaining. The presents I did get are wonderful, it's just that what I asked for I did not receive, and that is okay, because I promptly went out and bought it for myself--NOW that I have the money to do as such.

Firefly.

And Serenity.

Hee. Can't wait to watch it all.

Err, I confess, I did, in fact, skip a song because it was "Track __" and I couldn't tell who it was or even guess the name of the song. A total mystery. So... yeah. Otherwise I didn't skip.

Oh, yeah, and it was Winamp rather than iTunes, but, still... music playlist. Whatever.

Am amused that not only did I have "Mantua" but "Escape From Mantua" show up on the list completely randomly.

Last night I had dinner at Ange's, we drank up the last of their vodka cruisers and the small bottle of JD she got me for my birthday. And I didn't get drunk. In fact, I barely reached relaxed/tipsy/happy. I would have thought the amount of alcohol consumed would be enough, but, err, apparently not. Maybe all that drinking in the past with Glenn and Co. has upped my tolerance or something. Or maybe I just didn't drink fast enough to really up the blood in my alcohol.

We watched A Midsummer Night's Dream. I'm convinced Christian Bale must be a vampire, or something, 'cause I always get this sense that he's got fangs if he'd just bare his teeth. *laughs* Whatever. Was being a total perve about nekkid Dominic West (Lysander). Also, total love for Rupert Everett, with all the lovely skin showing, and something about the glitter on the skin that was... distracting.

I like shiny. :D

It is a beautiful, wonderful, gorgeous day out there. Sososososos v. nice. So why'm I here? Why am I not out basking in the sunlight, dressed as I am? (knee high socks, schoolgirl pleated skirt, purply-pink tube top, y'know, skank that I am) Well, I'm here to inform [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji that the parcel arrived Monday, I didn't find out 'til Tuesday, and didn't get to pick it up until today, Thursday. But zomg zomg. Sugar rush already. Aaaaand yeah. Love, much love. :D

Anyway, you know when you're talking about something, and your mouth just takes over and says something you didn't mean to say? And I don't mean, you suddenly offer a blunt opinion that upsets someone, but like, you mess up your words or have a case of spoonerisms. Happened the other day, Friday, I was at Grant's and somehow it came up that, slim as we both were, my wide hips were good at taking up a lot of the space. (I may not have [livejournal.com profile] shiseiji's gigantic birthing hips, but they're wide enough, that's for sure) Well, Grant went to say, "Wide hips" but it came out "Wild hips." Funny enough on its own...

It just gave me this hilarious visual of a bunch of bare hips grazing on a plain. They'd just be plodding along in their herds, 'til someone came along to rustle some up or something... then there'd be panic, and these stampeding wild hips... it was a funny visual, anywho.

Yesterday I was all geared up not to see Grant, 'cause he'd sent a text saying he was tired and planned to sleep. But then, my cellphone was on its charger so I didn't get the next text saying he couldn't sleep, he was going into town, and did I want to come over for pizza later? Instead he found me in the library, and we wandered around for a wee bit, enjoying the lovely, lovely sunshine. Then we went up and passed the time for a while, until it was time to make the pizza.

It was kind of a gourmet style pizza. Aside from the necessary tomato paste and cheese, there was onions, salami, capsicum, olives, feta cheese, anchovies (I discovered they're not all that bad, but I wouldn't wanna overdo 'em), and these things, these other things that I can't remember what they're called, but they're supposed to be good and I think I plain did not notice them. But it was a v. nice pizza that we ate while watching the news.

We actually watched a lot of tv, spent the most amount of time in the living room we ever have, watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the Simpsons, Scrubs, SVU, and Green Wing. All in all, good stuff.

Oh, oh, it was so funny; Grant and I stopped by where I'm staying so I could grab a couple things (some CDs for him to listen to, I meant to grab my phone off the charger and forgot, and my jacket so I wouldn't freeze when I walked home), and as I was heading back downstairs Glenn came out from the back room.

I smiled--no, I think I rather smirked--at him, so he asked, rather paranoid, "What?" and I laughed.

"What have you been up to?" he demanded.

"It's not what I've been up to," I replied, "but more what I'm about to get up to!"

He swore and I walked out under a tirade of, "Oi, no one said you could leave. Where are you going? Get back in here!"

(Don't worry, he wasn't serious, just jealous at the mere suggestion someone's getting laid when he is not)

Besides, that was more than enough revenge for the stunt he pulled yesterday morning. Back on Tuesday, I very generously cooked him dinner (what the hey, I'll play domestic goddess when I've got so much bourbon from him) and we also watched the DVD of Wes Craven's "Cursed" with Christina Ricci and Josh Jackson. While utterly predictable, it was fucking hilarious. Anyway, afer the movie I pleaded sleepiness and went to bed. I didn't have a hangover yesterday or anything--I've only had one or two ever thanks to Absolut Vodka--I just had a hard time waking up, and I was in a sort of not-ready-to-face-the-world-grunt-my-answers mood. I'd be better once I'd had my coffee and breakfast.

Well he and the Other Grant apparently got up when the birds did or some shit 'cause they were already up when I stumbled down. I was making my coffee when they walked into the kitchen. "You look like shit!" Glenn told me not unkindly. "I'm not awake yet," I responded. He walked past me, and the next thing I know, I'm flinching back 'cause I looked over in time to see him banging to pots right next to my head.

"Fuck!" was all I could say while they laughed at me. Bastards.

Oh, rather amusing email from my cousin John. He's a cop in Colorado, and I get the occasional narrative from him about some interesting event or another. he's a cool cousin.

Oh that was a cute fwd to show up in my inbox.
So I was in the library last night, just reading a book before I visited the group at Rowena's. And I was enjoying the book, but at the same time I kept thinking, "I should go, I should go, I'm gonna be there really late if I wait 'til I finish this book." Finally, I put the book down and head to Rowena's.
And I'm walking along Courtney Place, which has quite the crowd. Even for a Tuesday night that place doesn't lack for people out on the town. So, I'm walking, wondering who'll be at Rowena's, or if it will be dead, and I noticed there was someone walking some ways ahead of me, and all I can see is the back of his head. It could have been a her, with the hair being shoulder length, but it made me think of Darren. But it couldn't possibly be Darren. Darren left with Party Mike weeks ago. He's miles away.
...isn't he?
I couldn't figure out who he was walking with. But that head of hair looked like Darren's. And he had glasses. I figured, at least, I could have a glance when I caught up. Well, just as I caught up, they happened to stop. I recognised his companion; it was Julian a.k.a. Trout (as opposed to French Julien). And it really was Darren.
Nobody told me he was back!!!!!
Okay, he just got back Monday, but still. It was really cool to run into him there, because otherwise I wouldn't have seen him before the weekend. He wasn't even going to be around for the weekend, except everyone's remembered the huge fuss Aston's made over St. George's Day. Gotta be around for that. AND it's Milan's last weekend--he and Aston leave on Monday. (Aston gets back from the South Islan on Thursday) And I guess Darren will leave after the weekend as well.
Anyway, chatted with Darren and Julian for a bit, then went to the hostel. Talked to Brian, and Conor when she showed up. Then Conor left to hang out with Paul at his work. I got distracted watching House, but then I joined the lads in the dining room until 11 something.
And what do you know, I was heading back to the train station, along Courtney Place, and I ran into Darren and Julian again. So we chatted some more. Tried to figure out who was stalking whom. They'd just watched Keeping Mum. I might have gone to see it with them except it's the old, "I can't afford the movies if I want booze for the weekend" type deal. And I do want to drink this weekend.
I lost my watch somewhere during the night.
There was a Rolling Stones concert last night... could hear it halfway across town practically. By the time I left Darren and Julian, the concert had ended. I found myself walking against the crowd as I headed to the train station. It was full of people. Kind of funny given the time of night, and it was busier than rush hour (I felt really sorry for the ladies in line to the toilets... it was a very long line).
I haven't eaten all my Easter chocolate yet. Tempting, but I haven't. A good reason to come into town, even though I'm on "study" break... to keep from eating all the chocolate. That, and I finally got to read "...And then he ate my boy entrancers." Which is the sixth Georgia Nicolson book, and the only one I don't currently own.
Yay.

"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."
- James D. Nicoll

"English is the result of Norman men-at-arms attempting to pick up Saxon barmaids and is no more legitimate than any of the other results."
- H. Beam Piper

'Cause I love that first quote, and that second one's pretty amusing, too. I wish I'd known them well enough to quote a couple weeks ago... Conor, Milan, Aston and I were going to play darts, and Aston said something, I think, that I corrected. And he started questioning why someone not from the country which invented the language could say how something is supposed to be said. And somewhere in there I said that English is a bastard language anyway... would have been nice if I'd had those quotes to back me up. Eh, bien.

I was watching Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi yesterday, and I was reminded what a huge crush I used to have on Luke Skywalker. That was almost ten years ago. And then it faded away, for whatever reasons. Now it's just lurking there, along with the others. *coughs* But I was sitting there, and omg, for whatever reason, Mark Hamil reminds me of Peter. They just... share similar features. Which twists things.

I'd forgotten how pretty Leia is. Lol.

Edit: Oh, so Iain had me read this one book some weeks ago, Empire Falls. I mentioned it here, I'm sure. Anyway, I was doing a bit of exploring over at imdb, and found out that Empire Falls has been made into a miniseries. I think I really like how characters have been cast, by the looks of things. I don't like today and it's not even ten o'clock.

I woke up this morning, put the dogs out, etc... went back to bed. Finally got up 'cause Buddy wouldn't stop whining to come back inside. Had to feed him and Truffles, and the cats, and make sure nobody stole anyone else's food.

Answered nature, and oh yeah, period started yesterday sometime around the time I sat down to watch Once Upon a Time in Mexico, so I go to the loo this morning and it looks like someone was murdered in my panties during the night. This is not a nice period. Maybe, maybe I have to put up with crime scene panties for just a few days, as opposed to the usual painter's visit that lasts a week.

Oh, and it's raining, and there's washing on the line. It's washing that was done last week, forgotten about and sat in the washer for days, so it had to be rewashed to get rid of the smell. *sigh*

I keep spilling milk. And I've yet to do dishes, which should probably be done before Dad and Suzy get back. And I want to get on Iain's computer because after watching Once Upon a Time in Mexico, I watched Silence of the Lambs (just as I sat down to eat dinner, and I'd never seen before, but ooh do I like it), and then Star Wars. And now I want to watch Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. BUT his power button is finicky--you have to press it just right or it jams and the computer doesn't turn on. And all I seem to be doing is jamming it. It. Just. Won't. Turn. On.

I told you I don't like today.

Maybe something nice will happen to make it better, but I think that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Whee!

Monday night I went over to [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t's. It's her birthday on Friday. But, niether Anita nor I could manage to do her birthday thing on her birthday. So we learned how to play this game of [livejournal.com profile] the_chief_80's, Dirty Minds. Through some very... naughty descriptions, you have to guess what it actually is, usually something very innocent.

Anyway, yesterday we went mini-golfing. Shock of all shocks... I thought for sure I was sucking majorly. I thought I was making even Andrea look good. Although I did manage to score a hole in one. Anita got two. But at the end of it all (us girls a bit burned, oops), I was tallying up the scores...

Andrea: 83
Anita: 78
Damian: 74
Hana: 72

...

I can't believe I bloody won. I mean, I was usually scoring around 5 shots per hole. And in the beginning I was terrible. But apparently not that bad. Eh, bien. It was fun. We all had fun, and then we went to get the booze.

Ange bought a case of Tattoo, some Archer's, some mudshakes, a sparkling white, and a chardonnay. I got a six pack of B52 shots, some gin and tonic with lemon, and some vodka feijoa and apple. And we had a lovely evening of more Dirty Minds, and Scum, and this other card game, Morning Queen. It's the perfect game to play when drunk. It's hard enough to do sober, but drunk? Whoa.

You deal out all the cards between the players, and the aim of the game is to get rid of all your cards. You don't look at the cards you're given. The first person flips their card over. If it's a number, next person flips a card. If it's a jack, everyone has to say, "Hi, Jack." The last person to say it has to pick up all the cards in the pile and add it to their deck. If the card is a queen, everyone says, "Morning, Queen." Again, last person gets the cards. Not a good thing. If it's a king, everyone salutes. This one's the bitch. You end up whacking your forehead so many times. And if it's an ace, everyone slaps their hand on the pile. You don't want to be slow with these things. Or screw up which you say. For whatever reason, I was really good at getting out.

We watched some TV, before Anita and then Damian buggered off. Andrea got so much more toasted then I did. I was feeling really good though. We watched the Secret Garden. And then we watched Fern Gully. I did not know Christian Slater did the voice of Pips in that movie. (The boy fairy chasing after Chrysta, for those who don't remember) There were some cartoons on the tape after Fern Gully, so we watched this weird little cartoon, Animaniacs, and Batman. Then we went to bed.

Oh, and cards... new variation to Scum: Joker trumps all. Doesn't matter if it's singles, pairs, triples, or a quad, one Joker overrules everything. And you can't play the other Joker on it either, and steal the trump.

I finally came home around noon-ish, to find Iain at his computer. He was just starting to watch the first episode of Stargate Atlantis. He's got both seasons on the comp. When he told me that, I told him I love him. I missed an episode or two though, 'cause I got bored and took a walk. Lovely thing, it had been muggy all day, and kind of overcast. It wasn't 'til I was out walking, exactly halfway through my established walk route, when it started bucketing down. Thing was, though I got soaked through, I felt soooooo good for it. It was a relief.

Dad tried talking to us earlier about something. Iain finally snapped and pointed out we were watching a tv show here, can it wait? It could. I can't even remember what he was trying to talk to us about.
