One of the advantages of a flatmate who moonlights as a photographer is getting to borrow his camera...and getting him to take pictures of me for your enjoyment. :)

Several years ago my brother had the grand idea to send me this little red plastic bear. I fell in love with him immediately, and named him Charlie Bear. (Coincidentally, around the same time, a hurricane showed up and its name was Charlie, too, but I had nothing to do with that.) It's been my goal since then to acquire more of these bears, and this Christmas, [livejournal.com profile] pandoras_evil_t indulged in my budding collectiong by purchasing me another bear... I named him Nano Bear. This weekend I finally got some pictures of them together, a vast improvement on the blurry ones of Charlie from years back with my cheapo digital cam...

So there were pictures )

I also wanted some pictures of me, because I know I haven't posted any in a while. Yes, I straightened my hair again. The tank top is one of several I got for Christmas from my mum. Perhaps this weekend I can persuade my flatmate to take more pictures, and earlier in the day when the lighting is better. Maybe. If the weather holds.

And maybe I am all sorts of pretty, and my tummy is sexy )

In other news, no internets for the time being, beyond when I can snatch an hour or two at school. Don't know when it will be back up. I'll try to keep up with the happenings on my f-list, really, I will. Don't go beserk or anything, though, yeah?

Fin.

Edit: Everyone else is doing it, so why not me?

Okay, yeah, totally still alive and all that jazz. Why no posts?

Well... who wants to hear about my Christmas? I mean, really. *shrugs* There was family, food, waaaay too much sugar, a remarkable restraint with the booze, and, of course, presents. I think I managed to do all right and getting the right gifts for people. Although Iain is the hardest fucking person to get presents for, EVER. Shockingly succeeded just fine with my dad...

Anyone remember Charlie Bear? 'Cause Ange got me another bear to go with him. So far, unnamed, and I'll try to get pictures up, too. If I had Charlie here, I'd get pictures of the two of them together. It's just, Buddy (dad's poodle) has this crazy idea that Charlie is, in fact, a toy for him. Much the same way he'll fixate on Suzy's rubber duckies, particularly the ones with squeakers.

Speaking of Ange, I've been spending a whole bunch of time over at her place the last few days, as we've been watching Stargate SG-1 all over again, as she acquires each new season. Well... actually she's only got Season's 1 and 2 so far, but, yeah. We've been watching them. And, since I didn't get the one thing I really asked for--NOT that I'm complaining. The presents I did get are wonderful, it's just that what I asked for I did not receive, and that is okay, because I promptly went out and bought it for myself--NOW that I have the money to do as such.

Firefly.

And Serenity.

Hee. Can't wait to watch it all.

My angst tastes like...

Black Licorice
Find your angst's flavor

Unique and difficult to place, your angst finds its source in something you keep hidden. You have something serious and possibly traumatic, but you try to hide it from everyone and just tell them to ignore you when you seem troubled, that everything's really OK. You might think that you have good reasons for not telling people, and some of them may in fact be true, but most likely a lifetime of keeping your secrets has led to a resolution fortified by rationalization that nobody else can shake simply because you never give them a chance. Ask yourself if it would really be that horrible to open up to others; nobody says you have to do it all at once, even. But you should at least try getting out of your shell a little. It's not healthy to internalize everything and conceal it. Anyway, if people really care for you, and they probably do, then they'll be loving and supportive regardless of any reason to the contrary.

How very, very true.
Mum called today. Her boss is lending me Spirited Away because he thinks I'll enjoy it. I think Mum must talk about me a lot at work. It's a DVD though, so Rhi how would you like to see a Japanese movie? Or Brit, maybe?
My passport arrived. I felt like an idiot when I botched my signature. He said it was okay. I didn't know it was my passport at first. It was a package, with my name, and it looked somewhat official yet I didn't remember ordering anything... It was a weight of mum's shoulder's when I let her know. Which is why I did it.
Boo is sitting on my copy of Good Omens. Charlie is standing right next to them. I can't believe I managed to creat a niche on this desk for my stuff. That doesn't mean it gets left untouched though. Eh bien.

I've sort of been saving these up to hide within a more eventful entry )

Lately my life had consisted of the uneventful. Books mostly. Lots of books. Mucho exitement there, hey? Well, it filled me with a passion while the weather didn't cooperate. Today was sooooo hot an muggy.
Anyway, got a call on Thursday from my darling Jessykins about a gettogether... the hell I was going to say no. Got a ride with Rhi. We went early--arrived at about three to watch some Ronin Warriors without subjecting all the guests to any unwanted torture (to them, at least). That was a lot of fun. We finished off the last episode as first Ali, then Pat and Kah showed up. Kah has very cute short hair.
I'd brought Charlie along to show off, because, well, the darling is evilly adorable. You who've seen him know exactly what I mean. :D
:Bill removal the Christian way ~weird junkmail title
Anyway, lots of food and very entertaining conversations. We just drifted from one topic to another. It was so cool. Jake showed up bearing fish, which he recommended but I wouldn't touch due to personal preferences. Anyway, with getting up for food there was a shift in seating positions and I ended up no longer in my spot... right next to it was Patrick stole it, and Jake stole Charlie to sit upon his lap.
I kept holding out my hand for him to hand it over, but then retracting as Pat would reach out to shake it. Naturally came the comment, "Do you like holding my hand Patrick?" and many jokes, pretend snuggles, action and all that. It's the most touchy feely I've seen Patrick ever. Not in a bad way either. It was just incredibly light-hearted and playful.
Then I asked to get online to talk to mum and ask if I could stay later than nine (it was after nine when I did this but what the hey) to watch Eddie Izzard as Jake when home to grab it.
*is having a conversation in an IM about toe nails of all things*
Well, after some hmmmmmmmmmmmming and promises of care and quiet from myself and Rhianna, I got an okay on staying 'til like midnight. So, spent the next couple of hours cuddling up with the teddy bear that is Patrick laughing at Eddie Izzard. Rhi confessed to me on the ride home that she didn't think she got nearly half the jokes I did but laughed since I did. *giggles*
Came home at closer to quarter to one but I was quiet, oh so quiet, and cleaned up the mess in the kitchen (I didn't want the watermelon to spoil!). Did a couple more errands, ate some leftover watermelon to try and settle my headache, and ran off to bed.
Today was some yardwork before mum and I went into town for some errands. Oh so fun. I got mad because it kept interrupting my reading of First Rider's Call. Oh well. It's almost finished.
Dinner is nearly ready which is why I'm trying to finish this off. Much love to you all.

Edit: Without the stress of being called off for dinner, have remembered more facts. Like, got the book Eragon from Costco at a good price for a hardcover. Also, saw a dead cat today and that was sad since I knew it to be a very social one. Persuaded mum to get some ice cream bars in Seabeck on the way home due to the heat and muggyness. Parcel arrived from her friend Elained with presents--jewelery for her, jewelery and handbag for me. Yay! Am supposed to send thank you email.

Well, let's start with a couple quiz results, I guess, but at the same time I don't want to. I'm sort of going to take up space. I don't want to hide my stuff behind the cut. I don't want to have to spare your friend's page. Bear with me. Just today? Maybe. I might do this again. But not soon. Never too close together. Whatever. You'll forgive me. Or skip this all by.
Enough of the fractured sentences already!
Yes, I was talking to myself with that. Don't worry; I'm not any more crazy than I was yesterday.

Anger
You are Wrath/Anger!
Wow... who got you so mad huh? You have serious anger issues! With a rage that seems somewhat deadly, and a temper that is easily raised, you are by far the scariest sin. You tend to let the little things get to you, and are stressed fairly easily - and woe be it to any of your enemies. On the positive side, you're independent, powerful and a definite leader, if you could just control your moods!
Congratulations on being the toughest!! ...and the most independent of all the 7 deadly sins!

Haha.

All right, it's like this. I was taking pictures of Charlie. I love the little dude. I took him places. One of them was the top shelf of my bookshelves. And that's where my faeries live. Well, what can I say? I think he fell in love with her. Now, in an attempt to woo her, charm her, fit into her world, Charlie wants some wings. I think the idea is to impress her, and then she will be too in love to care he doesn't actually fly.

These are just try-out wings. To get an idea of the effect. I mean, it's just bits of folded paper held on by some tape. There's lots of room for improvement. I'd use pipe-cleaners if we had them. At the very least I know I have some twist-ties. Thankfully he's small and doesn't move around much, so they needn't be too complicated. I'll certainly go to [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom03 if I get stuck.

I just had to get a couple pictures of me in my snazzy black frames. It's kind of weird to wear them because they don't have the nose grip things like my other glasses do. BUT, they don't slip at all down my nose so I'm happy.
And then I went on to have some more fun today...

Mum came home with some crumpets yesterday, or Gary did. Whatever. It's one of my comfort foods. Sort of. It's kind of like fish'n'chips, or the little mince pies. They remind me of home. Of Saturday mornings and that fun stuff from childhood.

It's so strange, that my top teeth be so perfectly straight with absolutely no aid. But then my bottom teeth are crowded and crooked. I refuse to get dental work done on them. For one, it sort of adds character. For another, it's expensive. Plus, it's not as if I'm in pain. I don't care for cosmetic type stuff to improve my appearance to fit into society's view of being "perfect."
Heh. That was a rant I didn't expect. But it's true nonetheless. I also finished reading Mostly Harmless today. It sort of pissed me off. But oh well.

I made Charlie some little paper wings today. I think I'm going to try and make him some better looking ones. But he needed wings. See, I have this fairy that I think he has a crush on... so I think he'd better get some more snazzy ones before he goes showing off to her. :D
Am thinking about changing my icons again.

Naturally, with the movies my brother made me, he gave me a couple CDs. One is the "Take a Break" album by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. *giggles* There's nothing like hearing a guy singing a punk version of Celine Dion's "Natural Woman." Among other things. Very funny.
Watched the first two Harry Potter movies at Brit's last night. We were going to watch some of the movies that arrived from my brother, BUT her computers wouldn't read them. So we watched Harry Potter and giggled a lot. The surround sound made things amusing, too. That kept us up 'til just after two. Then we ended up lying in our beds talking for another three hours before we dropped off to sleep.
She brought me home and I was tempted to go back to bed but I was too awake. Basically I'm just going to stay up until I'm too tired. Then sleep as long as I can. Hopefully it will work. :D
I made this icon today...

So, presents arrived from Auny Jane and Uncle George, as well as Dad and Iain. Sometimes I wonder if my Aunt and Uncle even know much about me... I mean, the presents are cool, except the g-string. Thongs aren't really my thing. But there was a beaded necklace, and this headband thingy that's, well, kinda cool. Dad got me a t-shirt with a celtic/dragon design going on, woohoo! And Iain got me this teddy bear thing (soooo cool) and a CD case with some movies and a couple music CDs. Let's see... the movies... Donnie Darko, Cowboy Beebop, Bruce Almighty, Old School, Underworld, and the Last Samurai.

Just look at 'im! I think he looks like a Charlie. If I had a dashboard I'd be duct taping him to it, oh yeah. :D
So yeah, mostly been reading Megatokyo, watched a couple videos or movies on TV, and read a book or two. Wish that there was a visible bruise on my back from yesterday...
We have this floating dock at the swimming place. Get it wet enough, and you can slip and slid into the water. The usual way is kneeling, but you can go on your stomach, or your butt. Some talented people slide on their knees to the edge, arch up and dive in. Tried that. Belly flopped. I also tried sliding on my ass. Thing was, when I went off the edge, I leaned back, and hit my back on the edge while falling into the water. Owie. Somewhere in all that I also ripped one of my toenails.
Of course Rhi had her painful moments, too. She also tried to do the slide on knees then dive thing, and belly flopped like I did. Then she tried again. She did dive. Straight down. Really fast. The change in presure at such speed left her dizzy and with water stuck in her ears... I could see she was in pain.
Not that we spent all our time in pain, or sliding off the dock. Swam around, gave her a piggy back ride... Rhi was very commonly saying, "I hate you..." as I pestered her. What can I say, I was in a mischievous mood. (V^^^V)
Having a hard time focusing these days...
