Practice for commencement was boring. At least we got breakfast. When I came home, I promptly went to bed and slept for two or three hours. Sometime after I got up, Chuck arrived. He's kind of like a father to Gary, so a sort of surrogate grandfather to me. Then Sylvia and Mike showed up, and I got to open some grad presents. Mum got me a pen that will be engraved. Sylvia and Mike got me a $25 Borders gift card, and a book of fairy jigsaw puzzles. Dinner was bacon and egg pie. I nearly felt sick right after. Not cool.
Switching my pearl necklace I'd been wearing to the necklace Gary gave me, I left with Rhianna to go the commencement. Rhianna learned to run in high heels. Before we knew it, we were in our caps and gowns, and waiting to enter the pavilion. I hate Pomp and Circumstance. It was really hard to pay attention to walking and look at the crowds at the same time, so I focused on walking. I all but yelled at Rhi when she walked a bit too fast at one point... and then I was a bit embarrased because I was loud enough for the people standing and watching by the aisles to hear us.
The ceremony seemed to go by so quickly. Thankfully no one really screwed up. I felt a bit bad that I couldn't focus on all the names being said. I mean, I hear my name being said when I walk across the stage, but did I ever hear Rhianna's? Not once. I totally missed Sassy walking. I don't even remember seeing her in cap and gown. Ah well, I saw mum and Sylvia when I was walking out. Mum took a picture of me just as I was laughing at seeing her with the camera.

For your convenience )

Many hugs and photos later, Rhi left me in search of her parents because she could not find them. So I almost finished off the film on one camera that had some pictures from a weekend at Hen's... a lot of us wandered around like lost sheep when we had no idea where Grad Night people were supposed to meet up. Eventually found out. Finished my camera within five to ten minutes on the bus.
We got lots of goodies. We learned we were going to Trohpy lake for some late dinner, and then we'd go on to Miracle Ranch for the rest of the night. It was funny, that part of our goodies, was a disposable camera. That meant I had two cameras to use up in the night. I got to working.
We got lost at one point before getting to Trophy Lake. I don't know who's bright idea it was to have us outside, at night, in Washington, after a cloudy day, but I know that some people moved their tables to be under these overhead heaters. After a small meal that I practically inhaled--chicken, bread and butter, pepsi and a brownie--I huddled under one of the overhead heaters. While we were eating, we were visited by the magic man who did some card tricks, that involved us laughing at Kaisa a lot as she didn't listen to his instructions well--still, she got an origami frog made from a card, so we took pictures of her and her "prince". When most people were done eating the magic man started his actual performance. He did some rope trick with Dustin as his assistant, and of course it meant we laughed at Dustin's misfortune a lot.
Finally, all that was over and it was off to Miracle Ranch. Less than half an hour in and Ashtyn alread ripped her pants at the crotch. Teehee! It was in a play fight with Kaisa on the... it was a bouncy thing. I never danced, but there was lots of music playing, and DDR in the other room. I also didn't sumo wrestle, which could have been awesome.
We all won a prize or two, and some were lame, and some were really neat. I got a digital alarm clock radio, and a foldable lunch pail with a flashlight.
I was really, really tired by the time it was over. I wish I got to win the laptop... but Shelby did, and promptly gave it away. I'd like to know what she was thinking. All I know is that when I got home, at about seven in the morning, I went straight to bed.
I didn't wake up until four thirty in the afternoon.

Is it over? *looks around* I think it is. Holy mother of god. I'm not recovered yet. I mean, nine hours of sleep. Simply not enough. I guess.
When was the last time I updated? I'm not sure. Let me start with Wednesday.
Wednesday I got up slightly stressed because my Spanish teacher had misplaced my Spanish textbook, that I needed to hand in if I wanted to participate in grad activities. Thankfully, in first period when we looked for it again, she found it. Not much later, maybe a few yearbook signings later, it was time for the moving up assembly. That was pretty cool. The senior morphs were awesome.
After that, we all went out to shake hands of all the teachers, admin, and staff. I didn't know more than half the people who congratulated me. They didn't know me either, I'd bet. Whatever. People were crying. As I'd only spent three years at the school, rather than six, I didn't understand it. I doubt I will. I'd understand tears of joy, that it's OVER, but not all these tears because we'll never see each other again or somesuch.
Practice for commencement was boring. The senior picnic, on the other hand, was... better. Biz and I ended up being a bit reclusive and hiding by the waterfront rather than socializing like crazy. I still got several photos. Unfortunately my camera was being pissy (it was the digital one), and several of them didn't take. I got enough, though. I'm glad the one of Jess and Taz turned out. It's so cute.

Oh, yeah, I graduated. More of that later )

Holy fuck

Some Memgens of little or no interest )

Well, today was pretty busy considering how my weekends usually go. (clearly the last couple where I made trips with Hen to Chris's weren't usual) As I was getting my stuff in order before mum and I went into town, Rhianna called. She invited me to go see Shrek 2 with her and her parents. Of course I said yes.
In town mum mailed off my package for Andrea, and my letter for the grandparents (they sent me $100), and I went and banked the money I had ($100 cash and $100 check). Then we went off to get my hair cut. It now looks like this:

One little trip to Party City to get stuff for the barbeque and then mum and I headed to the AMC. While waiting for Rhianna to show up, I opened my grad present Dad sent. Iain sent me a card that was blue and fuzzy. Very cute. Dad got me a pair of pewter goblets, with a quote engraved on the base of each. I did not expect that.
And then we went and saw Shrek 2. That is a very good movie. Antonio Banderas--Puss 'n Boots--totally steals the show. And Rhi and I couldn't help but see the connections between the cat and her cat, Hummer. And very wisely we waited until the credits were done to see the neat little end scene...

Stupid car

"Oh. My foot is fine. The chair died, but I don't think it suffered." Richard Rahl

My foot really hurts. I accidentally clipped Rhianna's car door, and it went brutal viper on my foot. The bruise showed up in minutes, when I almost never get visible bruising. For that, her car should die.
Step-dad told me I don't look good in this one pair of shorts. Mum told him he didn't exactly look appealing in his pants, he said he didn't care, and then turned around and said I have to care about my appearance. Or something like that.
Got mad at mum earlier for telling me that step-dad has got me an awesome, awesome grad present. Told her I don't want to fucking know. Surprises are nice once in a while.
Want to take tomorrow off school. Seriously, I don't think I'll be missing much. I'd just like to sleep in, and then mooch. I mean, I'm only having a three-day weekend, so why not make it four? Am I right or am I right?
Mother naturally wants more details about bbq before she gives her yea. Will discuss with Hen.

What I told a girl feeling sorry for herself )

Boy am I tired or am I sick. No, seriously. I'm both. I may have got close to ten hours of sleep but I wish I could have got more. And then I think I may have got something from one of the girls... Ali and Hen were both sick at least.
Well, when I got up, I fussed with my hair and put it into twin buns, and eventally painted my names a dark pinkish red. But I didn't really get started until about two.
That's when I began putting on make up. I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do. I ended up with all the normal stuff, you know, foundation, powder, blush, etc, before working on my eyes. For my eyes I used a little bit of brown eye-liner, and then I put sparkly silver-white eye shadow between my eyebrows and the tops of my eyelids. Then I shadowed the eyelids in a dark grey-blue. It turned out to look very good, and even kind of Asian. Oh, and then I applied bright red lipstick.
Somewhere in all that, mum came home and handed me two long red ribbons like I'd asked her to get. I tied them on the buns and got into the dress and stuff. I'd had the idea to have red ribbons, but hadn't said anything until my friend Bethany also suggested it. In my mind I sort of had the image that it would kind of like Chun-Li from Street Fighter. (Although I couldn't remember her name... it took someone at Prom to remember it)
Yeah, I looked like this )
Well, Alicia showed up at about twenty to three and we went off to the theatres. Ah, Troy. Troy, Troy, Troy. It wasn't nearly as gory as I thought it might be, nor was the nudity really revealing. And sure, my memory of the Iliad is such that I only remembered the bare bones of the story. I just kind of waited for Achilles to die, because I remembered that much. Oh, but it was great when he gave this little speech on the gods envying humans their mortality, because it was sooo... gee, I wonder if Brad Pitt's ever played other roles where he was the immortal one envying the humans? :P Yeah, there was the sad part where Achilles is dying which just happened to be a moment that Ali, with her cold, sniffled. So I made fun of her by patting her shoulder like I was saying, "There, there." Of course, when the movie was over, she asked me what else Odysseus was in and at first I misunderstood her. Then I realized she was talking about the actor, Sean Bean, rather than the character. When I said Boromir, she was like, "Of course! I kept wondering why I got a Lord of the Rings vibe from him.."
We then went to this little Teriyaki place, Down East, for dinner. I got halibut and fries while she got chicken teriyaki. And dinner was nice. She started to get a little absent minded, though, where she went to leave without paying (thus confusing me because we'd only left the tip on the table), and then she'd forgotten her camera at the table. I was able to be her memory, asking if she'd grabbed it. It would have sucked if she'd left it behind.
We went back to her place, where her parents were home from seeing... um, what's that movie... the one with Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan. It's like, Rules of Attraction... I think. Anyway, that's what they saw. So we went upstairs so she could get ready. Her dress does ~not~ like me. It kept catching things in the zipper on her little top.
The whole TWO pictures off my digital cam )
Of course before we left her parents had to take a bunch of pictures (I already went through that before I left home to see Troy with Ali.). And then Ali and I made her mom feel short as I took a picture of Ali with her 'rents. After that, we went back to my place to pick up the corsages.
Apparently my parents took last night as an opportunity to eat out for once, and hadn't known if I had my keys or not. Still, I had them and used them to put the cheap digital camera and my glasses back inside (I'd had them just for watching the movie. They were ~very~ out of place with my outfit). Then we grabbed the boxes with the corsages and were on our way to the Base. I had my school ID, and not knowing if that was valid enough had wisely brought my passport as backup. Thankfully, I neither needed it, nor lost it.
And then it was Prom )

"Imagine yourself lost on an alien planet that's inhabited only by creatures who absolutely understand and sympathize with you. That's on your schedule for today. Needless to say, you shouldn't turn down any invitations. None."
That's my horoscope for today. I don't read them until evening, but you know what? I don't believe I did turn down any invitations today. Even the one that made me slightly nervous. *laughs*
...We got our caps and gowns today.
